Description of Work |
The Director of Adult and Professional Services works with other university departments and community partners to provide high quality and academically enriching learning opportunities for all
ECSU adult learners. The Director provides guidance to faculty and administrators who interact directly with the adult learner population providing leadership in the development of a framework that supports learners from the classroom to careers, overseeing the creation of professional credentials to enhance a learner's competitiveness in the workforce, and developing best practices and procedures for the successful retention and persistence of adult learners. This position is also responsible for creating, executing, and marketing adult learner programs, managing the budgets, and recruiting students/participants. In addition, this person will serve as the initiator and champion for the development of new certificate programs. |
Competencies/Knowledge Skills, and Abilities Required in this Position |
Demonstrate adequate knowledge of current education practices in higher education in particular with transfer students and adult learners and/or student success Possess knowledge of recruitment policies and procedures. Possess excellent computer and analytical skills Possess the ability to mentor students and provide leadership, guidance and advocacy Possess strong communication (written and oral) skills and experience in public speaking and presenting information to large groups. |
Minimum Training and Experience |
A Master's Degree in Education or related field. Significant experience working with adult learners and/or training programs with at least three years in higher education administration. |
