Dietitian will be a Certified Specialist, in the specialty area designated by leadership for this role, as recognized by appropriate governing body (ex: A.N.D, CDR, A.S.P.E.N., etc) (Certification ex: Oncology (CSO), Renal (CSR), etc). Specialist will perform duties in designated areas where their expertise will be best utilized.

  • Prepares and implements nutritional care plans for adolescent, adult and geriatric patients in accordance with departmental policy and standards of care.
  • Prioritizes patients at high risk using daily Dietitian Census Reports.
  • Initiates supplements, snacks, calorie counts and consistency changes as part of the patient's individual medical condition.
  • Incorporates current evidence-based research into clinical practice.
  • Acts as a liaison between the Nutritional Services Department and the Medical Staff, Nursing Staff and other Ancillary Departments.
  • Responsibilities involve providing nutritional counseling to adolescent, adult and geriatric patients, families, and others as requested.

KNOWLEDGE SKILLS AND ABILITIES/LICENSE OR CERTIFICATION REQUIRED

  1. Bachelor's degree in Foods and Nutrition related subject matter, and Dietetic Internship or equivalent training.
  2. Registered Dietitian by the Commission on Dietetic Registration of the Academy of Nutrition and Dietetics.
  3. Current licensure as a Dietitian in the State of Georgia.
  4. Specialized training with the indicated specific population.
  5. Certified Specialist as recognized by appropriate governing body. (governing body ex: A.N.D., CDR, A.S.P.E.N., etc.) (Certification ex: Oncology (CSO), Renal (CSR), Certified Nutrition Support Clinician (CNSC), etc.)OR Certified as a specialist as recognized by appropriate governing body within two (2) years of hire. (governing body ex: A.N.D., CDR, A.S.P.E.N., etc.) (Certification ex: Oncology (CSO), Renal (CSR), Certified Nutrition Support Clinician (CNSC), etc.)
  6. Competent and efficient use of computers
  7. Ability to work effectively with a multidisciplinary team
  8. Demonstrated knowledge of adult/parent (and/or children as needed) education principles.
  9. Good written and oral communication skills.
  10. Greater than or equal to one (1) year's experience in clinical dietetics with specialized area of expertise needed.

Must be willing to work flexible hours, including weekends, evenings and weekend call. Must complete at least 5 hours of continuing education annually specific to the specialty certification, as well as maintain specialty certification throughout tenure of position.

KNOWLEDGE SKILLS AND ABILITIES/LICENSE OR CERTIFICATION PREFERRED

  1. Greater than or equal to two (2) years' experience in clinical dietetics with broad area of expertise. PLUS greater than or equal to two (2) years in designated specialty area of focus.
  2. Public Speaking experience preferred.
  3. Master's degree in nutrition subject is highly preferred.
