Operations Excellence Manager

NHBB is looking for aLean/Six Sigma Master Black Belt to join our team as our Operations Excellence Manager

Working with the Senior Management Team, the Operations Excellence Manager will develop, set the pace and implement business transformation and continuous improvement strategies with a strong hands-on approach. You will drive improvements in manufacturing operations with a focus on machining, process optimization, and Lean/Six Sigma methodologies. You will work to plan, design, and direct Lean Manufacturing and/or Six Sigma projects with an emphasis on practical application the shop floor. You will develop strategy and processes required to accomplish measurable business process improvements. You will work with cross-functional teams to analyze and enhance operational efficiency. You will provide coaching and training of teams in the utilization and deployment of Lean/Six Sigma tools and principles, ensuring engagement at all levels of the organization. Outline directions and deployment of the Lean/Six Sigma framework to ensure consistent and rigorous application across the business in line with best practices.

In your daily role as Operations Excellence Manager you will:



  • Lead and implement best practice Lean/Six Sigma strategies that drive efficiency and quality in manufacturing operations.
  • Work directly with machinists, engineers, and production teams to identify bottlenecks and waste, developing solutions that improve cycle time, throughput, and first-pass yield.
  • Engage in real-time problem-solving on the shop floor, ensuring data-driven decision-making.
  • Develop a robust continuous improvement strategy in partnership with the Management Teams and key business stakeholders.
  • Provide hands-on coaching and training to teams on Lean tools such as Value Stream Mapping, 5S, Standard Work, Kaizen, and SMED.
  • Support cultural change across the organization and drive business improvement.
  • Lead, define, and develop continuous improvement activities designed to improve performance, such as the planning and execution of Lean/Six Sigma events.


What we are looking for from you as the Operational Excellence Manager :



  • Minimum of 5 years leadership experience in Lean/Six Sigma within a manufacturing environment.
  • Direct experience in machining or other precision manufacturing processes is highly preferred.
  • Proven track record of Lean/Six Sigma transformation in a hands-on capacity, including shop-floor implementation and engagement with operators.
  • Strong background in manufacturing process improvement, root cause analysis, and problem-solving.


Your education and skills will include:



  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Industrial Engineering, Operations Management or a related field. Master's degree is preferred.
  • Certified Lean/Six Sigma Master Black Belt.
  • Strong leadership and change management skills.
  • Hands-on problem-solving approach, with a passion for manufacturing.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills with the ability to engage shop-floor employees and leadership alike.
  • Effective change agent with a history of driving improvement in manufacturing settings.
  • Strong written, verbal, and presentation skills.
  • Strong organizational and follow-up skills.
  • Competence in statistical analysis, team building, planning, and decision-making.
  • Commercial and financial awareness to support business decisions.


In this role you may have to travel approximately 20% of the time both domestically and internationally. You will also possess a willingness to come in early/stay late without direction to complete time sensitive tasks.
