OUC - The Reliable One, is presently seeking a Lead Commercial Energy and Water Specialist to join the Customer Experience & Sales division. At OUC, we don't just work - we're building a bright future of innovation and transformation for future generations.

We are seeking an analytical, results-driven professional to lead energy and water conservation initiatives for commercial clients. In this role, you will conduct detailed energy and water audits and assessments for small, mid-sized, and large commercial customers, identify efficiency opportunities, and offer strategic guidance on conservation methods. You will also manage OUC's commercial rebate programs and incentives, ensuring these initiatives deliver sustainable outcomes that align with our organizational objectives. As a subject matter expert, you will collaborate with key stakeholders and act as a liaison for commercial conservation efforts.

The ideal candidate will bring extensive experience in commercial and industrial energy/water auditing, including knowledge of building systems (HVAC, lighting, automation, and mechanical systems). A Certified Energy Manager (CEM) credential, along with a proven ability to support cost-effective, impactful conservation initiatives.

The ideal candidate will have:

  • Bachelor's Degree in Business, Engineering, Environmental Science, Science, or related field of study from an accredited college or university;
  • Minimum of six (6) years of experience in energy engineering or energy management, to include:
    • Minimum of three (3) years of experience performing onsite energy audits with water audit experience preferred.
    • Experience working with energy and/or water rebate and data analysis.
  • Must have a Certified Energy Manager (CEM) certification, or at the time of hire, must meet the eligibility requirements to obtain the CEM within one year of hire, and maintain the credential after certification;
  • LEED Green Associate, LEED AP, ASHRAE, AEE, BPI Building Operator Certification, or similar (preferred);
  • Valid FL Driver's License.

Salary Range: $100,000.00 to $124,000.00 yearly commensurate with experience.

Job Purpose:

Lead and conduct energy/water audits and assessments for mid to large commercial customers. Provides oversight and manages OUC's energy and water efficiency commercial non-prescriptive rebates/incentives. Monitors performance of sustainability programs and ensures OUC and program goals are met. Serve as subject matter expert and liaison for commercial energy/water related conservation initiatives.

Primary Functions:

  • Lead and conduct onsite energy/water audits and assessments and provide customized efficiency management plans that provide specific solutions to energy and water related issues while promoting savings strategies, solutions, products, and/or services;
  • Provide consultation and subject matter expertise on commercial energy/water related conservation;
  • Create awareness and foundations for business development toward other products and services;
  • Analyze the customer's business operations and facilities through on-site inspections with utility consumption analysis tools;
  • Recommend implementation of measures and operational changes to maximize efficiencies; perform cost benefit calculations for adoption of OUC's commercial efficiency programs and rebates ;
  • Collaborate with OUC Corporate Sustainability & Facilities on OUC portfolio of buildings;
  • Aggregate, analyze and report on measurement and verification data and metrics to validate progress towards goal attainment;
  • Perform proactive trend analysis and reporting on energy and water consumption and conservation data; make recommendations on conservation and sustainability initiatives;
  • Provide guidance for database management, monitoring, analysis, and reporting of data related to energy and water consumption;
  • Perform pre/ post inspections and validation of installed efficiency measures and to ensure adherence to program requirements;
  • Create and provide detailed energy and/or water assessment reports;
  • Influence customers on energy and water efficiency opportunities and deliver program eligibility requirements;
  • Evaluate incentive applications for customers; provide approvals within correct range;
  • Partner with leadership and customers on the development of reasonable energy and water reduction goals;
  • Attend community and business events during business hours and occasionally after-hours to promote sustainability and efficiency programs;
  • Mentor, coach and guide team members;
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Technical Requirements:

  • Working knowledge of all, but not limited to, the following:
    • EnergyStar Portfolio Manager;
    • Energy and water assessment reports;
    • Florida building codes and engineering/architectural drawings;
    • ASHRAE standards & efficiency ratings;
    • American National Standards Institute (ANSI);
    • Modeling Software (i.e. eQUEST - DOE Modeling Software, etc.);
    • BEQ (Building Energy Quotient) - ASHRAE Efficiency Rating;
    • Data metrics, analysis and reporting;
    • Business development.
  • Familiarity with all, but not limited to, the following:
    • Software Application (i.e., Customer Information System, Meter Data Management System, etc. );
    • Related industry, organizational and departmental policies, practices and procedures; legal guidelines, ordinances and laws;
  • Ability to:
    • Use auditor tools (fluke, fieldpiece, power analyzers, light sensors, etc.);
    • Efficiently analyze data and report generation;
    • Mentor, coach, and guide team members;
    • Make arithmetic computations using whole numbers, fractions and decimals, and compute rates, ratios, and percentages;
    • Use Microsoft Office Suite (Outlook, Word, Excel, etc.) and standard office equipment (computer, telephone, copier, etc.).

Working Conditions:

Involves occasional exposure to some disagreeable elements (dust, heat, fumes, cold, noise, vibration, etc.) and accidents are improbable other than minor injuries. This job may involve very frequent working in outdoor weather conditions and with insects. This job may require working frequently near moving mechanical parts, around fumes and airborne particles, and with risk of electricals shock. This job may require occasional wet/ humid conditions, working in high places or confined areas.

Physical Requirements:

This job consists of very frequent standing, walking, and lifting up to twenty (20) lbs., bending, stooping, speaking and hearing. This job also consists of very frequent typing, writing, detailed inspection and driving a company vehicle. This job may consist of frequent lifting up to forty (40) lbs., pushing, pulling, reaching over head, kneeling, crawling, and/ or climbing. This job may require occasional sitting.
