Overview

Flatiron is continuing to transform infrastructure and we are looking for an experienced Area Manager or Senior Project Manager who's ready to take the next step in their career to be part of our growing team! As Area Manager you will oversee multiple PM's in a geographical region across a number medium and large scale projects. You will take a lead role in liaising with external managing partners to ensure project success and be involved in projects from preconstruction through project award, construction and financial close.



What you will be doing

    Supports and oversees multiple project plans and project productions within a geographical region.
  • Provides technical expertise and guidance across all stages of the project lifecycle, working with preconstruction, estimating and operations.
  • Champions company and project safety plans at all project sites.
  • Reviews proposed project designs to ensure compliance with contract cost estimate, production goals and quality.
  • Coordinates with HR to ensure all projects have accurate personnel assigned and recruiting efforts are assigned to upcoming project needs.
  • Reviews weekly project status and cost reports, evaluating schedules and plans to align with project goals. Oversees and/or audits project cost controls, budgets, invoicing, estimates and project forecasting and reports status monthly to Executive management.
  • Evaluates project activities to determine compliance with government regulatory agencies and coordinate with agencies for permitting regulations.
  • Assists project managers with owner relations, presentations and change order requests, as needed.
  • Participates in the selection and contract execution with subcontractors and suppliers.


What we are looking for

  • 15+ years' experience in heavy civil construction along with 10+ years' experience managing construction teams required. A Bachelor's Degree is considered a plus.
  • Substantial previous operations experience managing heavy civil projects (roads, highways, bridges, dams, water infrastructure) and project finances.
  • Expert knowledge of complex construction means and methods.
  • Proven knowledge and ability to manage claims process and negotiate with owner regarding project issues.
  • Proven skill and ability to lead multiple teams from different functions towards a common goal.
  • Strong conflict management skills.
  • Strong, proven leadership skills.
  • Ability to identify top talent and implement growth opportunities and trainings to mentor and build internal team.
