TMZ is looking for an entry level Broadcast Operations Technician to join our Technical Operations Center. The Broadcast Operations Technician is responsible for recording, playback and monitoring for incoming feeds, recorded programs, and outgoing show playout. The Broadcast Operations Technician will have significant interaction with TMZ's studio / newsroom and will frequently play the role of Stage Manager or Floor Director during show tapings, pickups and promos.

Responsibilities:

  • Run backup player or primary player and MCR switcher during broadcast playout
  • Label, start and monitor recordings for incoming feeds and studio productions
  • Stack, re-order and time rundowns and playlists for broadcast playout
  • Perform utility routing and monitoring of audio and video for entire TMZ facility
  • Operate flashcam for live shots to affiliate stations and national news programs
  • Fill in for other TOC personnel as needed
  • Host and maintain Zoom meetings for remote interviews, ensure audio quality, and record using studio scan-converters
  • Other duties as assigned

Requirements:

  • 1 - 2 years of experience in broadcast operations
  • Intermediate MS Office skills and ability to learn new softwares
  • Ability to monitor multiple applications in real time
  • Basic audio/video signal flow and broadcast terminology

Pursuant to state and local pay disclosure requirements, the pay range for this role, with final offer amount dependent on education, skills, experience, and location is: $21.00-23.50 per hour for California. This role is also eligible for various benefits, including medical/dental/vision, insurance, a 401(k) plan, paid time off, and other benefits in accordance with applicable plan documents. Benefits for Union represented employees will be in accordance with the applicable collective bargaining agreement.
