Primary focus of the Site Manager is to manage the day-to-day operations of one or multiple sites. Under the direction of the General Manager, the Site Manager is responsible for delivering the utmost level of professionalism, and excellent customer service to increase the bottom line. The ideal candidate will bring a strong understanding of business operations, previous experience managing a productive team of nursery associates, a passion for the industry, and a customer service mindset to positively promote the company's image and increase sales.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:



  • Regulate sales, inventory and on-order with the goal of optimizing sales and minimizing losses
  • Ensure that buying direction is on target based on comprehensive analysis of the business, e.g., last year results, current trends, etc.
  • Ensure that vendor relations are optimal i.e., getting the best possible prices, quality and service levels with an appropriate level of "partnership"
  • Build and maintain genuine and long lasting customer relationships
  • Define types and quantities of stones, paver, bulk, aggregate and hard goods to be ordered based on budgets, projected sales volumes, and/or management instructions
  • Coordinate with team members and operators regarding sharing materials and equipment; and working on joint projects as needed
  • Ensure staff is properly maintaining inventory by adding/subtracting products and quantities based on demand
  • Demonstrate a high level of collaboration and team productivity to meet the common goal
  • Effectively train and utilize seasonal workers to ensure quality standards of service are met
  • Hire and train qualified employees in order to maintain a skilled workforce
  • Manage clerical, recordkeeping, and inventory control records
  • Regulate optimal upkeep of inventory (stone, pavers, bulk, aggregate and hard goods) to coincide with PO records
  • Provide employee training to maximize new hire success in the proper and identification of all inventory
  • Provide a high level of customer service by educating customers on the proper care of products
  • Visit work areas to note work being done, to inspect inventory, and to assess inventory quality
  • Maintain a timely assortment of products that meet or exceed the sales volume and profits
  • Demonstrate a practical understanding and experience with logistics and the dispatching function
  • Negotiate the highest value pricing while maintaining vendor relationships
  • Other duties as needed



Essential Qualifications:



  • Bachelor's degree in Horticulture or experience managing a wholesale nursery, garden center, or a farming operation
  • Management experience
  • Extensive knowledge and understanding in horticulture, agriculture, or botany
  • Available to travel
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills
  • Organized, detail oriented and a problem-solver
  • Knowledge of MS Office Applications such as Word, Excel and Outlook
  • Able to plan and manage multiple projects completely and accurately
  • A valid Stated issued driver's license is required


Physical Demands:



  • Ability to work required hours and days; ability to lift 50 lbs.; ability to work in both field and onsite as required
  • Must be able to stand and walk for long periods of time or until the end of the assigned shift
  • Must be able to safely and properly lift and carry plants, pots, and other product
  • May be asked to lift 50 lbs., on a consistent and regular basis throughout the assigned shift with or without assistance
  • Must be able to bend/stoop, squat, reach above shoulder height, crouch, balance, and push/pull
  • Must be able to use both hands for repetitive actions such as grasping and manipulating
  • Specific vision abilities required include color vision, peripheral vision, and depth perception


Work Environment:



  • Able to work outdoors in all weather conditions
  • Able to work with daily exposure to dust and dirt
