The occupational therapy (OT) faculty at Missouri State University (MSU) is searching for a colleague to join our vibrant and collegial academic unit. The position is for a clinical track, 12-month appointment at the Assistant Professor rank. MSU has a Public Affairs Mission and is committed to the pillars of Cultural Competence, Ethical Leadership, and Community Engagement. MSU currently enrolls more than 24,000 students (approximately 20,000 undergraduates and 4,000 graduate students). The OT programs at MSU encompass both seated and online courses. The OT programs are part of the School of Health Care Professions and are housed in the McQueary College of Health and Human Services (MCHHS). MCHHS offers 15 different bachelor’s degrees, 15 different graduate degrees, and six doctoral degrees. It is also home to the Learning Diagnostic Clinic, the MSU Care Clinic, the RStats (Research, Statistical Training, and Support) Institute, and the Pro Bono Occupational Therapy Clinic. The ideal candidate will share MSU’s commitment to our diverse student population and a desire for interprofessional collaboration. 

 

Responsibilities 

The primary teaching responsibilities of this position are to work collaboratively with other OT faculty members to coordinate and teach OT courses and train students. The position involves working effectively with a team of faculty to deliver a high-quality, engaging, and consistent experience across the OT program. Duties also include advising students, collaborating in program development and advancement, and providing OT clinical services to train students. Clinical track faculty are not required to develop an active research program but are encouraged to be involved in scholarship activities and to utilize evidence-based practice and teaching. Service responsibilities include collaborating with all members of the program to obtain and maintain accreditation and clinical placement sites. Additional service responsibilities include university, college, and program committees and participating in activities that contribute to the community and the public affairs mission of the university. 

 

Qualifications 

Required qualifications include: minimum of a doctoral degree (e.g., OTD, PhD, EdD, DHSc, or equivalent; ABD will be considered); minimum 3 years clinical practice as an occupational therapist, with experience in adult populations preferred; current certification as an occupational therapist by the National Board for Certification in Occupational Therapy and eligibility for licensure in the state of Missouri; effective interpersonal and verbal and written communication skills. 
 
A successful candidate will have skills consistent with effective use of technology, working collaboratively with multiple constituents, and effective teaching; the candidate will demonstrate knowledge and understanding of multicultural and inclusive practices.

Salary and Benefits 

Salary and rank are commensurate with qualifications and experience. Dependents and spouses of full-time MSU employees are entitled to tuition waivers for dependents, up to 15 credits/year. The position is a 12-month appointment.
