The Division of Child Neurology within the Department of Pediatrics at the University of Pittsburgh School of Medicine seeks pediatric neuroscience candidates for an Assistant or Associate Professor position on the tenure track. Candidates carrying out basic science and/or translational research in areas related to pediatric cerebrovascular diseases using genetic and genomic approaches are preferred. Applicants must have an MD, Ph.D., or MD-PhD degree. Compensation will be commensurate with rank and experience. Assistant Professors have 1-6 years of experience with demonstrated academic progress/contributions in their pediatric specialty; Associate Professors have 7-10 years of experience with significant demonstrated academic progress/contributions in their pediatric specialty.

Teaching responsibilities may include Ph.D.-level graduate students, post-doctoral Ph.D. fellows, and M.D. fellows.
The successful candidate will build an independent research program in basic and/or translational pediatric neurology that results in publications in high-quality peer-reviewed journals and funding from NIH and other federal or non-federal funding agencies. The selected candidate will interact and collaborate with investigators in the Department of Pediatrics, as well as with the larger neuroscience community across the University of Pittsburgh campus. The ideal candidate will have the ability to productively collaborate with clinicians to foster translational research in their area of expertise.

The Division of Child Neurology (https://www.pediatrics.pitt.edu/divisions/neurology-and-child-development-unit) has a robust clinical and research program that includes laboratory space in the Rangos Research Building on the Children's Hospital Campus and full access to the research computing facilities available at the University of Pittsburgh. The Department of Pediatrics at the University of Pittsburgh ranks among the top 10 free-standing children's hospitals in total and NIH- sponsored research funding. The Rangos Research Building stands minutes away from the downtown cultural district, home stadiums for three major sports teams, an internationally recognized culinary scene, and renowned centers of higher learning at the University of Pittsburgh and Carnegie-Mellon University.
