FLUIDS SYSTEMS TECHNICIAN (STARSHIP) LEVEL 4/5

The Fluids Systems technician is responsible for building, installing, and troubleshooting fluid systems in support of the Starship production facility. The task requires both pipe fitting and installation experience.

RESPONSIBILITIES:



  • Read and interpret planning documents, schematics, datasheets/manuals, drawings, blueprints, and engineering sketches
  • Adjust, repair or replace faulty components of ground hardware, test, and integration equipment
  • Connect and verify pressure transducers, thermocouples, and other sensors
  • Complete necessary wiring of the electrical ground support equipment for ground systems
  • Read and interpret engineering drawings and work instructions
  • Perform fluids and pneumatic testing
  • Fabricate and install fluid system components from a schematic or engineering drawing, including but not limited to:


    • Ball valves
    • Check valves
    • Pressure regulators
    • Pressure gauges


  • Lay out, build, test, troubleshoot, repair and modify wiring of electronics racks and junction boxes
  • Complete welding assignments and procedures for construction and repair of all site structural stands on time, safely, and in a professional manner
  • Troubleshoot operational issues found during activation of fluid and mechanical systems


BASIC QUALIFICATIONS:



  • High school diploma or equivalent certificate
  • 3 years of experience using basic mechanical and/or electronics hand tools
  • 3 years of experience with pipe fitting and fabrication


PREFERRED SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE:



  • Associate/Bachelor's degree in aerospace technology or equivalent area of study
  • Experience working at a rocket launch facility and supporting launch campaigns
  • Experience maintaining and troubleshooting complex fluid and mechanical systems
  • Experience maintaining a propulsion test stand in the aerospace industry
  • Military aviation experience as a propulsion or airframe technician
  • Experience with orbital or structural welding
  • Machining and metal fabrication experience
  • Strong working knowledge of Microsoft Office (Excel, PowerPoint, Word, Outlook)
  • Experience with mechanical repairs and troubleshooting
  • Experience with pneumatic/hydraulic system fabrication
  • Familiarity with calibrated measuring instruments
  • Experience using heavy equipment, including but not limited to, overhead cranes, forklifts and manlifts
  • Ability to read, understand and follow detailed schematics, drawings, and instructions


ADDITIONAL REQUIREMENTS:



  • Must be able to lift at least 25 lbs unassisted
  • Must be willing to travel up to 25%. Position is based in Brownsville, TX, however work at other SpaceX facilities for extended periods for similar work may be required
  • Must be able to climb ladders and work in confined spaces
  • Must be willing to work all shifts, overtime, and weekends as needed


COMPENSATION AND BENEFITS:

Pay range:
Level 4: $35.00/hour
Level 5: $40.00 - $50.00/hour

Your actual level and base salary will be determined on a case-by-case basis and may vary based on the following considerations: job-related knowledge and skills, education, and experience.

Base salary is just one part of your total rewards package at SpaceX.
