The Workday Payroll Analyst is responsible for managing payroll-related activities within the Workday system. This role involves configuring, testing, and maintaining payroll functions, ensuring accurate payroll processing, and troubleshooting any issues. The ideal candidate will have strong knowledge of payroll systems, a keen understanding of Workday's capabilities, and experience with payroll compliance and best practices. The incumbent of this position is required to work closely with developers, project managers, business analysts, and quality assurance staff to ensure that they fully understand the requirements, which includes reviewing high-level technical designs and detailed testing documentation

A SNAPSHOT OF YOUR RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Payroll Configuration & Maintenance:
    • Configure payroll processes in Workday, including pay components, tax setup, and time-tracking.
    • Ensure payroll workflows are optimized and aligned with company policies and regulatory requirements.
    • Monitor payroll integrations with third-party systems such as timekeeping, benefits, and tax systems.
  • Payroll Processing & Reporting:
    • Oversee the accurate and timely processing of payroll, including off-cycle, manual, and exception payments.
    • Run payroll audits and generate reports to ensure payroll data integrity.
    • Assist in quarter-end and year-end payroll activities, including tax filings, reconciliations, and reporting.
  • Testing & Troubleshooting:
    • Conduct system testing for payroll updates, new releases, and configuration changes.
    • Resolve payroll issues by investigating discrepancies and working with cross-functional teams to implement solutions.
  • Compliance & Documentation:
    • Ensure compliance with federal, state, and local payroll laws and tax regulations.
    • Maintain payroll system documentation, including process flows, guidelines, and payroll calendars.
    • Assist with internal and external audits related to payroll.
  • User Support & Training:
    • Provide technical support and training for payroll system users, including HR and finance teams.
    • Serve as the main point of contact for Workday payroll-related inquiries.

WHAT YOU WILL NEED

  • Experience:
    • Experience with Workday payroll configuration and support
    • Strong understanding of payroll processes, tax laws, and regulatory compliance.
    • Experience in system configuration, payroll audits, and troubleshooting payroll issues.
  • Technical Skills:
    • Proficient in Workday modules including Payroll, HCM, Compensation, Time-Tracking, and Absence Management
    • Advanced Excel skills, including pivot tables, VLOOKUPs, and data analysis.
    • Familiarity with payroll tax laws, compliance requirements, and multi-state payroll.
  • Soft Skills:
    • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
    • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and manage multiple priorities.
    • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work cross-functionally.

NICE TO HAVE, BUT NOT A DEALBREAKER

  • Workday Payroll certification is a plus.
  • Experience with full-cycle Workday payroll implementation.

Pursuant to state and local pay disclosure requirements, the pay range for this role, with final offer amount dependent on education, skills, experience, and location is: $119,000.00-140,000.00 annually for California. This role is also eligible for an annual discretionary bonus, various benefits, including medical/dental/vision, insurance, a 401(k) plan, paid time off, and other benefits in accordance with applicable plan documents. Benefits for Union represented employees will be in accordance with the applicable collective bargaining agreement.
