As a Senior Director, Oncology Genomics, you will lead the Oncology Genomics team providing genomics insights to support Oncology R&D, spanning target identification to clinical-stage pipeline support. To be effective, you will develop and maintain inclusive and empowered partnerships with Oncology projects and discipline/capability leaders and influence senior leaders in Research Technologies and Oncology R&D.

You will bring in-depth experience in genomic science with a particular focus on oncology. You will have experience in scientific leadership in oncology, including development and delivery of strategy in genomics. Your expertise will ensure that R&D projects are supported by field-leading genetic and genomic evidence. Demonstrated breadth and depth of technical and leadership expertise across the discovery and development phases is required to support projects through all phases.

Key Responsibilities

Your responsibilities will include the following:

  • As a recognized leader in Oncology Genomics, you will provide scientific leadership to execute on near-term priorities and develop and deliver long-term strategy to support and accelerate Oncology Research and Development

  • Provide leadership and expertise as a leadership team member of the broader Human Genetics and Genomics organization

  • Contribute scientific expertise to identify and deliver drug discovery or development efforts within and outside own discipline

  • Lead and influence the outcome of multidisciplinary projects and meetings

  • Contribute to projects and programs as an Expert Peer Reviewer

  • Represent GSK on cross-industry teams on initiatives, maintaining an extensive network of specialists within and outside GSK

  • Effectively communicate findings to team members, peers and senior leaders across GSK

  • Utilize your track record of effecting substantial change to impact discovery/ development policy, processes or guidelines in the pharmaceutical industry

  • Apply scientific skills to influence experimental design and data interpretation that impacts across drug discovery/development

  • Define and execute a coordinated and highly influential scientific strategy

  • Accountable for decisions affecting major product development activities or business directives and their implementation and for recommending allocation of resources with key matrix partners

Basic Qualifications
  • PhD in a quantitative subject e.g. Bioinformatics, Biostatistics, Computational Biology, with combined academic and or industry experience of over 15 years

  • Experience in the oncology therapeutic area

  • Recognized leader with strong scientific expertise in the analysis, integration and interpretation of diverse genetic and genomic datasets

  • Extensive knowledge of genomics and translation into biological function, and proven ability to apply their experience to drug discovery and development.

  • Significant experience leading a multi-functional group responsible for delivering project-oriented genomics support.

  • Track record of managing complex technical, scientific and operational activities and in nurturing, developing and motivating high-performing individuals and teams.

Preferred Qualifications
  • Proven track record of effecting substantial change

  • Knowledge of multiple disciplines and therapeutic areas that impact discovery/ development policy, processes or guidelines in the pharmaceutical industry

  • Demonstrated ability to coordinate outputs from several expertise areas to determine strategy

  • Expert in integration of preclinical development
