Job Summary

The Director of Inpatient Coding Operations is responsible for providing the vision, strategic direction, and leadership for the Inpatient Coding Program for the Johns Hopkins Health System. This position requires knowledge and experience in directing Coding Operations in a multi-facility, multi-state hospital system. Experience with the APR-DRG payer model would be an asset. The Director of Inpatient Coding Operations will be responsible for the overall performance of Inpatient Coding, across multiple facilities, through a Shared Services Model. The Director will demonstrate strong customer service and collaboration skills, the ability to develop the leadership needed to manage performance expectations, and the fiscal responsibility to ensure timely and accurate coding.

Qualifications




  • Bachelor's degree in Health Information Management required, or work experience equivalent to two years of HIM Coding leadership experience, for one year of education experience, i.e. 8 years, with a credential of an RHIT. Master's degree desired.
  • RHIA, RHIT, or CCS credential required.
  • Minimum of ten (10) years of leadership experience in Health Information Management and Coding. Experience in a large academic medical center and multi-facility health system preferred. Prior work experience must include project and/or management experience in a highly automated revenue cycle environment, with demonstrated experience managing Accounts Receivable and DNFB. Must demonstrate team-building experience, and process improvement concepts, to positively influence the work environment.
