The Senior Secretary provides general secretarial/clerical support. These tasks involve preparing, maintaining, and processing patient and unit activities, data and records.

Experience REQUIRED: Minimum of one (1) year of previous clerical/secretarial work experience in an office setting.
Experience PREFERRED: Two (2) years of previous clerical/secretarial work experience in an office setting. Previous experience in a health care setting.
Education/training REQUIRED: High School Diploma or equivalent

Independent action(s) required: Must be able to decide when to expedite specialty bed orders based on needs. Takes initiatives in helping to reduce unnecessary costs related to specialty beds. Completes patient billing for specialty products based on documentation provided by the Wound Care Team (WCT) and other Materials Management staff. Able to perform daily activities with minimal supervision. Self directed in the accomplishment of routine activities. Issues that involve violation of VCUHS policies or procedures, involve conflicts of a sensitive nature or that would be considered unusual in nature are to be brought to the attention of the supervisor (or designee) promptly as would be warranted by the immediacy of the issue. Must possess knowledge of local, federal and state laws and regulations and JCAHO standards, related to position's chief objective and demonstrate aptitude for compliance with VCUHS policies, procedures, and customer service. Generally works day shift, Monday through Friday, but occasionally requires flexibility to work late, on weekends, or during Holidays to meet organizational needs.
