POSITION SUMMARY

This role reports directly to the Technical Utilities and Sustainable Lead and will be responsible for design, implementation, maintenance and improvement of electrical systems. The primary role of the Electrical Engineer is to reduce maintenance costs and improve asset and process reliability by implementing improved maintenance techniques and by the identification and correction of equipment problems causing repetitive failures or high costs. One of the core objectives is to ensure the highest levels of excellence of maintenance of the electrical systems and overseeing the inspection and system upgrade programmes. The teamworking style is one of collaboration, coaching and facilitating to provide engineering solutions to the engineering teams to support a high-performance organisation.

POSITION RESPONSIBILITIES

Key objectives of this position include: Technical & Finance

• Ownership of the site plant safety controls alarms & interlocks (SCAI) program, management and control state of Electrical drawings for both legacy and existing project documentation and delivery.
• Champion and lead the on-going compliance and adherence for all Electrical work.
• Ongoing review and continuous improvement of Maintenance and Calibration programs, including Predictive Maintenance and spares optimisation.
• Problem solving and root cause analysis.
• Review Capital Project Appropriation submission requests for all electrical work associated with new projects.
• Technical backup to Maintenance Crafts.
• Participate in cross-functional risk assessments, inspections, audits, incident investigations etc. and implement follow-up related CAPAs.
• Execution of minor electrical projects.
• Preparation and delivery of training.
• Compile annual OPEX Electrical budgets and maintain throughout financial year.
• Oversight and maintenance of the site's Electrical infrastructure.
• Ownership of the equipment and infrastructure associated with MV&LV Electrical systems.
• Ownership of Electrical systems associated with Life Safety and Security for the site. Develop and implement service level agreements for the maintenance of Electrical infrastructure and equipment.
• Implement and maintain the site's Electrical standards.
• Ensure that systems are operated, maintained and upgraded as appropriate to avoid production downtime.
• Ensure all equipment spare parts are identified and held onsite.
• Develop training material, standard operating procedures and work instructions for electrical systems.
• Act as site Subject Matter Expert for Electrical systems and represent the site for inspections from regulatory and loss prevention bodies.
• Ownership of Electrical drawings and records.
• Identify capital investment needs.
• Monitor and identify power quality and electrical energy distribution investment needs.
• Ongoing review and continuous improvement of electrical distribution and generation systems.
• Lead Energy Reduction projects. Compliance
• Ensure Zoetis and regulatory standards for Electrical systems and equipment are fully complied with.
• Ensure up to date drawings and records are maintained.
• Maximize efficiency of energy consumption, identify improvement projects with acceptable payback period.
• Adhere to industry best practice for maintenance and inspections of Electrical equipment.
• Ensure new installations and project works comply with Zoetis and industry standards.
• Perform system and equipment reviews.
• Provide awareness and training for Engineering resources involved in the operation and maintenance of Electrical systems.
• Maintain and promote the highest level of Health & Safety standards related to the design and operation of systems and equipment across the site with particular emphasis on ATEX standards. Availability of Systems
• Review and maintain system infrastructure including electrical transformers and distribution ring mains to ensure that security of supply is optimized.
• Ensure UPS and backup systems are adequately sized and ready for use.
• Ensure annual preventative maintenance and inspections are completed.
• Investigate problems using appropriate RCA tools and subsequently identify and implement right first-time solutions.
• Ensure costs of ownership of all systems are minimized. Collaboration and Influencing
• Working with and influencing other departments and cross-functional teams, in particular Quality and Operations, to investigate and resolve quality and downtime issues and improve performance. Excellent oral and written communication skills in particular report writing skills.
• Oversight for new Electrical installations associated with project delivery. Identify industry best practice and promote within Zoetis Rathdrum facility.
• Be a champion for Health & Safety and Energy conservation for Zoetis Rathdrum
• Support the implementation of corporate global policies, site and business specific guidelines and manufacturing SOPs.
• Ability to work on own initiative with minimal direction. Please note that duties/responsibilities may vary from time to time for operational reasons, such as the implementation of continuous improvement projects and/or procedural updates.

SYSTEM OWNER / SUBSYSTEM OWNER RESPONSIBILITIES

* Providing strategic & proactive direction with respect to the System (across the site) in terms of content and execution.

* Providing support, guidance & coaching to Sub System Owners (SSO).

* Ensuring that SSO regularly review sub-systems for their effectiveness, escalating issues where required to site Quality Council (QRC) for action & remediation.

* Owning relevant System issues in the site Compliance Plan.

* Defining resources as needed & communicating resource needs to Site Lead.

* Applying people change control across Sub-Systems within their responsibility. * Ensuring that SSO have proactive continuous improvement plans for their Subsystems. Sub System Owner (SSO) Sub-System Owners have overall accountability for the site Quality Sub-Systems for which they are responsible and in particular for:

* Providing strategic & proactive direction with respect to their Sub-System (across the site) in terms of content and execution.

* Regularly reviewing their Sub-System & presenting Sub-System review to Quality Council (QRC) as required. Escalating issues where required to the System Owner (SO) and site QRC for action and remediation.

* Owning relevant Sub-System issues in the site Compliance Plan.

* Defining resources as needed & communicating resource needs to SO.

* Developing & implementing proactive continuous improvement plans for their subsystem.

* In partnership with the SO, ensuring that there are clearly defined expert(s) for each sub-system, acting as a point of contact during inspections.

* Overseeing all documents associated with their sub-system and providing input to the document owners during updates.

* Providing comments on new/revised draft policies and guidelines and completing impact assessments where required.

ORGANIZATIONAL RELATIONSHIPS

Directly reports to the Technical, Utilities and Sustainability Lead. Strong working relationship with other departments including Maintenance, Projects, Facilities, Operations, Quality and EHS. Will contribute to the overall performance of Zoetis and the achievement of the Company's strategic objectives through daily exhibition of Zoetis Core Beliefs and leading by example with the Technical Engineering Team.

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE

* Degree in Electrical Engineering is essential.

* At least 5 years' experience in a similar role in a GMP-regulated manufacturing environment plus exposure to Electrical installations within an ATEX environment.

* Experienced in similar roles within the Pharmaceutical/Chemical industry, s/he will have a proven track-record of consistent high performance and delivery in a complex, global and matrixed environment.

* Possess a strong analytical acumen with ability to interrogate project financial data and take appropriate actions.

* Deep understanding of GMP and the Quality standards required in the API Manufacturing sector.

* Understanding of ATEX and Machinery Directives and statutory requirements.

* Exposure and strong understanding of MV&LV substations, transformers, distribution ring mains, LV switch rooms.
