This position will work a hybrid schedule which includes a combination of working both onsite in La Jolla (main campus) and remote.

Residential, Retail, and Supply Chain Service (ITS-RRSS) is a self-funded, large, and complex campus department consisting of 9 divisions, with more than 700 staff employees, over 800 student employees and an annual operating budget of $150 million. HDH provides housing for approximately 20,000 undergraduates, grad students, faculty, staff, and their families in over 400 buildings, over 5 million square feet. RRSS' goal is housing 50% of enrolled students. The ITS-RRSS, a division of ITS, provides core infrastructure services for UC San Diego. The RRSS Information Services organization provides a full catalog of IT services to the Assistant Vice Chancellor - RRSS and each business unit within RRSS, which currently consists of Auxiliary Services (Housing, Dining & Hospitality, Early Child Development Center, Triton Digital Print, and the UC San Diego Bookstore); Facilities Management (Facilities Business Services, Custodial Service); Retail & Food Services (Triton Cash, Dining Dollars and Account Programs, Transact, Online Menus, Point of Sale, PCI, Amazon Just-Walk-Out Stores, Inventory Control, and Conference & Catering services); Internet & Cable Services; Access Control; Digital Signage; Construction (Bluebeam) and Business Support; Integration and supporting hardware and software systems.

POSITION OVERVIEW

Applies professional concepts, departmental, unit and campus policies and procedures to resolve a variety of complex application and support issues in one or more IT areas of specialization utilizing strong inductive and deductive reasoning while maintaining customer satisfaction and meeting deadlines. Analyzes and resolves complex issues within defined procedures and practices, determines appropriate action.

Demonstrated ability to troubleshoot and repair moderately complex problems with networking, computing devices, peripherals, and software. Applies skills as a seasoned, experienced information systems professional with a full understanding of systems and software integration concepts to evaluate, resolve and implement solutions.

Direct or related involvement in designing databases, user interfaces, integration to other systems/applications. Experienced with SQL Server, SQL/PowerShell scripting, along with networking experience.

Applies skills as an experienced professional responsible for interfacing with business units and stakeholders to maintain, integrate, enhance, and support the delivery of complex, highly integrated information systems. Works closely with clients and stakeholders to identify and meet application and information needs. Ability to define problems clearly, extrapolate consequences and determine the impact of proposed solutions.

Responsibilities:
  • Performs complex data analysis

  • Evaluates workflows and monitors system activity to identify vulnerabilities or areas of process improvement

  • Works closely with clients and stakeholders

  • Troubleshooting networking, firewalls, client, server, and peripherals-related issues

  • Documents complex software and processes

QUALIFICATIONS
  • Strong analytic, inductive, and deductive reasoning skills. Ability to define problems clearly, and to think creatively and efficiently to analyze problems and their solutions, often under extreme pressure. Demonstrated experience in problem-solving techniques and process improvement.

  • Advanced skills associated with programming design, modification and implementation. Basic knowledge of secure software development. Demonstrated ability to create software specifications. Experience with customizing and automating a variety of technology solutions as well as integrating with other applications.

  • Demonstrated experience with database administration. Working knowledge of database management systems and standards. Knowledge relating to database system design. Advanced database querying and modeling skills working with moderately complex databases.

  • Demonstrated ability to install software and troubleshoot and repair moderately complex problems with computing devices, peripherals and software. Understanding of and experience troubleshooting client, server and peripherals-related issues and actions that can be taken to improve or correct performance. Experience in incident response and digital forensics, including data collection, examination and analysis. Demonstrated experience with networking and Wi-Fi. Experience troubleshooting networking, firewalls, client, server and peripherals-related issues

Pay Transparency Act

Annual Full Pay Range: $85,400 - $156,800 (will be prorated if the appointment percentage is less than 100%)

Hourly Equivalent: $40.90 - $75.10

Factors in determining the appropriate compensation for a role include experience, skills, knowledge, abilities, education, licensure and certifications, and other business and organizational needs. The Hiring Pay Scale referenced in the job posting is the budgeted salary or hourly range that the University reasonably expects to pay for this position. The Annual Full Pay Range may be broader than what the University anticipates to pay for this position, based on internal equity, budget, and collective bargaining agreements (when applicable).
