role will focus on ensuring that students with disabilities receive the
accommodations and support services necessary for their academic, cultural, and
social success. The Director will oversee the development and delivery of a

    success.
  • Advocacy for Students with Disabilities: Serve as a strong advocate for students with
disabilities, ensuring that they have equal access to academic programs,
    campus resources, and co-curricular activities.
  • Compliance and Policy Oversight: Ensure the university complies with all relevant
federal and state regulations related to disability services, including
ADA and Section 504. This includes overseeing the development and
implementation of policies and procedures that meet or exceed legal standards
and reflect UNM's commitment to inclusivity.
  • Program Development and Oversight: Lead the development and implementation of initiatives
and programs that support students with disabilities, including those with
intersectional identities, focusing on promoting academic success and
    social inclusion.
  • Collaboration and Partnerships: Collaborate with faculty, staff, and administrators to
ensure accessibility and accommodations are integrated into all aspects of
academic and student life. Build and maintain strong relationships with
campus departments and external partners to support the needs of students
    with disabilities.
  • Cultural Competency and Student Support: Ensure the ARC's services and accommodations are
inclusive of students with diverse backgrounds and address both their
    academic and personal needs.
  • Training and Education: Develop and deliver training for faculty, staff, and
students on best practices for disability accommodations, inclusion, and
    accessibility.
  • Monitoring and Reporting: Track the effectiveness of disability services, assess
student feedback, and continuously refine services to improve outcomes and
    ensure compliance.
