PSC Group is seeking an experienced and strategic Quality Assurance (QA) Director to lead our organization's quality initiatives and drive the development, implementation, and continuous improvement of quality systems and processes. The QA Director will be responsible for overseeing all aspects of the quality assurance function, ensuring that products and services meet the highest standards of quality and regulatory compliance.

The ideal candidate will have a proven track record in leading QA teams, managing complex projects, and ensuring compliance with industry standards. As a key member of our leadership team, the QA Director will collaborate with cross-functional departments, including production, engineering, and customer service, to maintain and enhance product quality across all operations.

Key Responsibilities:

Leadership & Team Management:



  • Lead, mentor, and develop the QA team, fostering a culture of quality and continuous improvement.
  • Set clear goals and objectives for the QA department, aligning with company-wide strategic priorities.
  • Conduct regular performance reviews, provide coaching, and ensure the professional development of QA staff.


Quality Systems Management:



  • Oversee the design, implementation, and maintenance of effective quality management systems (QMS) that ensure product and service compliance with internal and external quality standards and regulatory requirements.
  • Monitor key quality performance indicators (KPIs), establish quality benchmarks, and implement corrective actions as needed.
  • Lead root cause analysis and corrective/preventive actions (CAPA) to address quality issues and improve process efficiency.


Regulatory Compliance & Auditing:



  • Ensure all operations comply with relevant regulatory standards (e.g., ISO, FDA, GMP, etc.), industry best practices, and customer-specific requirements.
  • Coordinate internal and external audits, prepare for regulatory inspections, and drive the resolution of audit findings.
  • Maintain up-to-date knowledge of industry regulations and quality assurance standards.


Product & Process Improvement:



  • Lead initiatives to improve product quality, reduce defects, and enhance customer satisfaction through continuous process improvement.
  • Collaborate with R&D, engineering, and production teams to ensure the development of high-quality products and services.
  • Promote Lean, Six Sigma, and other quality methodologies to drive efficiency and reduce waste.


Data Analysis & Reporting:



  • Analyze quality data (defects, complaints, returns) and report findings to senior management.
  • Generate and present detailed reports on quality metrics, trends, and ongoing improvement initiatives.
  • Leverage data-driven insights to inform decision-making and optimize product lifecycle processes.


Supplier & Vendor Quality Management:



  • Establish and monitor supplier quality standards, ensuring that suppliers meet or exceed quality expectations.
  • Conduct supplier audits and assessments, work with vendors to resolve quality issues, and establish long-term quality improvement partnerships.


Minimum Qualifications:



  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Materials Science, or a related field preferred.
  • Must have experience in Railcar QA systems
  • Advanced certifications in NDT (Level II or III) preferred.
  • NACE Coating experience preferred.
  • Minimum of 10 years of experience in quality assurance in the railcar repair industry.
  • Proven leadership and management skills.
  • Strong knowledge of NDT techniques, materials science, and corrosion engineering.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Proficiency in quality management systems, such as ISO 9001.
