Senior Project Manager - Space & Energy Systems

We currently have an exciting opportunity for aSenior Project Manager within the Space & Energy Systems group of Westinghouse Government Services,(WGS) where we execute US government facing projects related to civil, defense and space programs. Working closely with applicable Westinghouse engineering and technical leadership, this role will help lead successful project execution as well as managing engagements with key government program stakeholders. We will consider a US Remote candidate for this role, with a preference for a mobile candidate located near our Pittsburgh offices where WGS projects are centrally located.

Your Day to Day:



  • Provide Project Management on moderate complexity and first-of-a-kind development projects.
  • Support the proposal process in development of scope, schedule and budget for moderate complexity projects.
  • Complete initiation and planning processes for new projects including authoring charters and project management plans which include developing scope, schedule, and cost baselines as well as, risk and stakeholder registers.
  • Manage all aspects of projects including scope, schedule, cost, risk, procurement, quality, resources, communications, and stakeholder management.
  • Coordinate project communications ensuring team, customer, and all stakeholders are kept informed of status. Develop or oversee project records in standard databases, systems, and procedures to ensure efficient handling and transmission of project correspondence and documentation internally and externally.
  • Interpret and transmit project/contract requirements, and subsequent changes, to functional groups following an integrated change management process.
  • Properly close projects by archiving work in financial, scheduling, document management, and resource management systems/tools. Perform final project quality assessment and report out. Identify and communicate opportunities for improvement, lessons learned, and risk avoidance for future work.
  • Work closely with facility security officer and IT to ensure project compliance for controlled information.
  • Use interpersonal skills to cultivate positive relationships with team, customer, and other stakeholders (e.g., internal management) to facilitate successful project completion as well as identify opportunities for additional business growth.
  • Work effectively as part of a cross-functional team including quality engineering, supply chain management, project management, legal, security, and customers.
  • Provide high-level technical guidance and direction to and collaborate with other personnel including customers, partners, or subcontractors.
  • Support management with planning and forecasting.
  • Position requires light travel <5%


Who You Are:

As a successful candidate, you will bring the following to the team:



  • Bachelor's degree in Project Management, Engineering, Manufacturing or Business.
  • Typically, 8-10+ years professional experience with 5+ years in Project management.

    • PMI PMP certification desired but not required.


  • Experience in nuclear, space and/or defense industries preferred.
  • Strong interpersonal and time management skills.
  • Strong verbal, written and interpersonal communication skills.
  • Strong teamwork and leadership skills.
  • Track record of delivering projects on schedule within budget and with high quality.
  • Strong analytical thinking capability and ability to escalate issues as appropriate.
  • Organizational experience with planning, budgeting, operations and objectives.
  • Knowledge of team building, planning techniques, principles and practices.
  • Experience in developing and successfully implementing scope, schedule and budget plans.


  • Ability to coordinate and prioritize multiple projects and perform tasks under pressure
  • This position requires the ability to obtain and maintain a US Government security clearance.
