New Shepard: This role is part of the New Shepard program. New Shepard is a reusable suborbital rocket system designed to take astronauts and research payloads past the Karman line, the internationally recognized boundary of space. Through operational reusability, New Shepard supports our mission of lowering the cost of access to space.

As part of a diverse and hardworking team of professionals, specialists, and engineers, you will lead efforts to manage and direct suppliers and teammates to support maintenance operations and sustainment of various spaceflight system spares. You will interact with our internal customers and program to address concerns and ensure deliveries are on track.

The New Shepard (NS) Spares Program Manager has overall responsibility, accountability, and authority of the spares management process, working with NS Commercial Operations (NSCO), NS elements, Supply Chain's demand planners in Production Control and Supply Chain Management, and monitoring execution of the process in accordance with program strategic objectives. The NS Spares Program Manager is responsible for coordinating within the NSCOand Elements to submit and manage the NS Spares budget, schedule, and prioritization as well as coordination across elements and supporting functions.

This function directly supports the NS Business Unit. The Spares Program Manager within the NSOM maintenance team will drive strategic planning, budget management, development and execution of spare parts programs. This role requires collaboration with cross-functional teams to ensure the timely availability of parts, aligning with program needs and objectives. The ideal candidate will take ownership of inventory management, procurement, and supply chain strategies to optimize operations and support maintenance activities. Proven leadership and negotiation skills are essential to influence stakeholders and achieve program goals within budget and schedule constraints, ensuring seamless integration and efficiency across the organization.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in Supply Chain Management, Business Administration, Engineering, or a related field.
  • 5-7 years of experience in inventory management, procurement, or supply chain management, preferably within maintenance and operations.
  • Proficient in Supply Chain and Program Management, including procurement, planning, MRP/ERP systems, BOM structures, and material estimating.
  • Demonstrated negotiation skills in contracts, terms and conditions (T&C's), and supplier management.
  • Experience developing and executing project plans within budget and schedule, managing multiple programs.
  • Proven experience managing complex projects with aggressive schedules and limited resources.
  • Superior communication, leadership, and negotiation skills; ability to collaborate cross-functionally.
  • Skilled at communicating complex ideas, anticipating objections, and persuading senior stakeholders and leadership.
  • Experience working with engineering, design, and project management to deliver products/services.
  • Proven problem-solving skills; able to develop innovative solutions to complex problems.
  • Excellent analytical skills, proficient at establishing and tracking program metrics to drive decisions.
  • Experience operating in ambiguous environments and establishing scalable processes.
  • Occasional travel required.
  • Ability to earn trust, maintain positive relationships, and contribute to an inclusive culture.
  • Must be a U.S. citizen, permanent resident, or lawfully admitted into the U.S. as a refugee or granted asylum.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Project Management Professional (PMP) Certification or equivalent
  • Experience with Deltek Costpoint and Coupa system(s)
  • Experience using Jira and Confluence system(s) for project tracking.
  • Proficiency in Lean / Six Sigma; capable of creating models, re-engineering processes, and performing complex data analysis to improve profitability and production.

Responsibilities include but are not limited to:

  • Owns and manages the NS Commercial Operations spares budget and schedule for NS4.2 and NS4.3.
  • Chairs and organizes a spares management operating system inclusive of quarterly spares audits, monthly spares program reviews, bi-weekly spares status to NSCO leadership, and weekly spares execution reviews.
  • Works closely with NSOM maintenance and operations to understand changes in mission and spares demand and collaborate with Production, Supply Chain and NS Element teams to continuously optimize and adjust spare plan.
  • Tracks and manages budget and schedule variances to the plan including management of spares related risks and opportunities.
  • Reviews, maintains and updates safety stock levels to ensure adequate quantities of spare inventoried parts are ready for use to support vehicle and ground maintenance activities.
  • Works with LSO inventory team and oversees tracking of as-required consumables required for maintenance - updating the list as demand changes and tracking expiration dates of goods.

Compensation Range for:

WA applicants is $108,360.00-$151,704.00
