  • The Security Officer provides a physically safe and secure environment for patients, visitors and employees at Sentara Hospitals and Free-standing Emergency Departments.
  • The Security Officer actively patrols campus and monitors activity in and around buildings and grounds and responds appropriately to routine and emergency situations.
  • This individual performs camera surveillance, maintains department logs and records, uses computer skills for documentation of daily activities, conducts security investigations, evaluates situations, and takes appropriate steps for professional and timely resolution.
  • To bolster safety and security for our patients and team members, Sentara has implemented a Fit for Duty assessment to ensure that our officers meet a minimum standard of fitness.
  • The four-part assessment includes a response walk, a stair climb, a drag to safety and a lift.

Sentara Halifax Regional Hospital is fueled by the expertise of a well-established medical staff representing more than two-dozen specialties, while remaining focused on excellent care. Services at this hospital include: cardiovascular services, emergency services, family birthing center, hospitalist program, imaging/radiology services, laboratory services, nephrology services, orthopedic services, rehabilitation services and surgical services.

Qualifications:

HS - High School Grad or Equivalent (Required) Certified Healthcare Security Officer (CHSO) - Certification - International Association for Healthcare Security & Safety (IAHSS), Driver's License - Certification - Other/National, Driver License - Certification - North Carolina Division of Motor Vehicles (NCDMV), Driver License - Certification - Virginia Department of Motor Vehicles (VDMV), HANDLE WITH CARE Certification (HWC) - Certification - Workday Learning Security
