Job Description

SUMMARY

To assist the Director of Food and Beverage in ensuring Events services exceed Accor and Fairmont Breakers standards. The Events Manager is responsible for elevating guest experience and colleague satisfaction. They also oversee the Events team and the daily floor operations as it relates to events. The Events Manager must be flexible with the type of work needed to be done as well as hours worked including, but not limited to, mornings, nights, weekends and holidays. It is a position centered around guests' needs.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITES include, but are not limited to the following:

  • Consistently offer professional, friendly and engaging service
  • Outgoing and engaging personality (outstanding interpersonal skills), working knowledge of food and beverage, working knowledge of catered events - on and off property
  • Lead and manage the Banquets/Events team
  • Administrative duties, such as, inventories, ordering, Event Order updates and Event Order meetings, processing Events checks, room set-up, room break-down, Event space and equipment maintenance
  • Leadership duties such scheduling, staffing, hiring and selecting talent, coaching and counseling, training, conducting performance reviews, and participating in corrective actions including terminations
  • Perform all payroll duties for the department and distribution of gratuities
  • Clearly and professionally communicate, both verbally and in writing, with clients, vendors, colleagues, and with other hotel departments
  • Make management decisions in the best interest of hotel and the guest
  • Review and maintain high quality of set-up, service and follow-up for events. Own and follow up on requests from clients and colleagues
  • Lead Events team members to abide by Accor and Fairmont Breakers service standards
  • Assist in leading the culinary and stewarding personnel during the work functions
  • Train team members in Accor and Fairmont Breakers service standards
  • Support the F&B Director in all aspects of operations and team direction
  • Entertain client concerns and offer timely resolution
  • Manage labor to Fairmont Breakers Standards
  • Build and maintain extraordinary Guest Service Standards
  • Review all information pertinent to events, ensuring accuracy in form and execution
  • Run the floor and multiple events simultaneously
  • Knowledgeable and functional in all roles that report to the position
  • Maintain regular and predictable attendance
  • Other duties as assigned

SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Oversee all Events staff member
  • Work with colleague schedules to optimize productivity and coverage: ensuring actual coverage meets guest service standards and business demand
  • Run a profitable shift by managing labor
  • Ensure accuracy and availability of all inventories
  • Simultaneously manage daily work and event timelines

Qualifications

  • Well-developed and rounded general management skills with an emphasis in Food and Beverage operations management
  • Previous Events experience, with a minimum one year in a leadership role
  • Previous experience in union environment
  • Efficient and effective operational skills

  • Responsive, with a sense of urgency
  • Consistent follow through
  • Possess a focus on guest service
  • Strong food and wine knowledge
  • Make business decisions based on Event Orders, available information, experience and collaborative input

  • Analyze and interpret established policies
  • Plan and organize the work of others
  • Demonstrate the ability to change activities frequently and manage interruptions

  • High school diploma or equivalent required
  • Two-year college degree preferred
