Job Summary

The Housing and Residential Experience Department is currently seeking a Temporary HR Assistant to join their team of professionals. The Temporary HR Assistant provides direct support to the Human Resources Manager on various department-wide HR processing matters.

Duties include:

  • Provides administrative support to the HR Manager in managing the day-to-day operations and represents the Office of Housing and Residential Experience by greeting and interacting with students and employees professionally and addressing questions and concerns.
  • Disseminates briefings to ensure fluid communications.
  • Handles the student, non-student temporary, and Federal Work-Study (FWS) employees HR processes. Simultaneously maintaining the Hiring Status report.
  • Provides HR assistance to department regarding personnel transactions.
  • Assists with posting student job openings and creating student job offer requests, as well as submit requests to post and hire non-student Temporary and FWS.
  • Assists with Graduate Assistantship (GA) recruitment and processing.
  • Reviews valid and legible work authorization documents submitted in the I-9/E-Verify system to coordinate scheduling Student, FWS, and Temporary candidates for I-9 verification and E-Verify or sending to HR Service Center as applicable.
  • Assists with submitting change requests for student, non-student temporary, and FWS for various actions including but not limited to, change in allocations, reactivations, pay actions, job end date extensions, changes in supervisor, and terminations.
  • Enforces the time limited appointment report and follows up with the appropriate parties to extend and/or separate employment for non-student temporary employees.
  • Assist with payroll activities for accuracy and completeness on a biweekly basis.
  • Assist with the administration of student conduct cases. Composes, disseminates and stores letters accordingly.
  • Interprets HR policies and procedures to ensure compliance with University, State, and federal regulations. Advises department regarding the adherence to policies and procedures and regulatory compliance as related to HR matters.
  • Advises on Person of Interest (POI) requests for department prior to their submission.
  • Maintains the confidential nature of employees and prospective employees related to HR issues using good judgment. Makes recommendations to the HR manager regarding appropriate follow up.
  • Assist in coordinating and hosting employee events, supporting logistical planning and ensuring a positive experience for all attendees.
  • Performs other related duties as required or directed. The omission of specific duties does not preclude the supervisor from assigning duties.

Desired Qualifications

  • Degree in Business or Human Resources preferred.
  • Experience working in a Human Resources Department, preferably in a higher education setting.
  • Experience working with PeopleSoft.
  • Excellent verbal, interpersonal and written communication skills are required.
  • Ability to effectively work independently and as a member of a team quickly build strong working relationships, demonstrate a high-level of integrity, and establish a proactive approach to customer service.
Minimum Qualifications

High school diploma and two (2) years of experience in area of responsibility.

Work Schedule

  • Monday-Friday
  • 8:30am-5:00pm
  • 40 hours a week.
Advertised Salary

$16.00-$20.00/hour
