Instructional Designer

Assists department with instructional design for online and hybrid courses, and collaborates on programs for faculty professional development in digital pedagogy and academic technologies. The Instructional Designer will work with instructors to help them create expertly designed courses and highly engaging, accessible course content delivered in a clear and effective manner. This role will vary based on campus needs, but involves supporting the design of hybrid and online courses, conducting regular checks on course quality and accessibility compliance, helping faculty with assessments and course alignment, and improving meaningful teacher-student interaction through course design and instructor practice. The Instructional Designer will also help to curate online materials and resources for campus-wide training on effective teaching in higher education. Other responsibilities involve developing workshops, hosting individual and group consultations, and designing online and print documentation, tutorials, and video resources in support of instruction.

This position can be performed on-campus and/or as remote work.

• A Master's degree in any discipline
• At least 2 years experience as an instructor in higher education, as a teaching assistant, or in an instructional design position

• At least two years of demonstrated expertise in college and university pedagogy and knowledge of research-based teaching and learning principles based on listed prior experience or publications.
• At least two years of experience with a range of educational technologies for delivering online learning experiences.

• Master's degree in Instructional Technology/Design or related field and at least 5 years experience as an instructional designer in higher education and/or as a teaching assistant or instructor in higher education, with a demonstrated interest in college and university pedagogy and knowledge of research-based teaching and learning principles.
• Familiarity with higher education institutions or non-profit organizations.
• Familiarity with Universal Design for Learning.
• Experience with ADA compliance.
• Experience with Quality Matters or similar guidelines.
• Project management skills.
• Experience consulting with faculty on a range of issues related to the intersection of educational technology and effective pedagogical practice (across disciplinary boundaries).
• Strong interpersonal and communications skills in a variety of interactions (e.g. written, verbal, in person, media).
• Demonstrated success as a collaborative team member
