Associate Chief of Research (ACR) The Department of Medicine - The Division of Geriatrics at the University of Pittsburgh is seeking full-time faculty at the level of Associate Professor, and Professor levels, both in the tenure stream and outside the tenure stream. Qualified applicants will be established investigators with a proven track record in extramural NIH funding. Exciting opportunities are available for translational research and clinical care in the areas of cancer, dementia, depression, falls, frailty, heart disease, incontinence, infections, mobility, osteoporosis, pain, pharmacotherapy, resilience, sarcopenia, and the biology of aging. Qualified applicants must have an MD or PhD. They will be BC/BE physicians and physician-scientists, established investigators with proven track records in extramural NIH funding, and strong publication records. The position offers superb opportunities for research, direct patient care, and teaching and mentoring of students, residents, and fellows. This position will have up to 49% clinical responsibilities, and 51% or more research funding (exact distribution and research funding TBD upon candidate selection and hiring). This position will serve as the Associate Chief of Research (ACR). In this role, the ACR will work closely with the Division Faculty and report directly to the Division Chief. Academic appointments, tenure status, and salary are dependent upon qualifications and experience. Applicants for Associate Professor, non-tenure, tenure-stream, tenured, should have five or more years of experience in related scientific research; have independent, external research funding and a substantial record of peer-reviewed publications; have significant teaching experience; and demonstrate the capacity for sustained, impactful, and independent scholarly contributions and leadership. Applicants for Professor, non-tenure, tenure-stream, and tenured, will have served five to seven years as Associate Professor. The rank of professor recognizes the attainment of authoritative knowledge and reputation in a recognized field of learning and the achievement of effective teaching skills. The professor should have attained superior stature in their field through scholarship, professional practice, and leadership in professional and learned organizations.
