About the School of Information Technology

The School of Information Technology is a national leader in studying solutions and needs that connect people, information, and the technology of the time. The SoIT (School of Information Technology) is home to Ohio's first Master of Science and Doctor of Philosophy degrees in Information Technology. In addition, it is home to Ohio's first ABET accredited Bachelor of Science in Information Technology and a Bachelor of Science in Cybersecurity. The SoIT has been growing at 20% annually and currently serves more than 2,000 students with 35 full-time faculty members, 35 full-time staff, and 30 adjunct faculty. The SoIT is home to several centers including an NSA/DHS Center for Academic Excellence in Cyber Defense, the Information Technology Solutions Center, the Ohio Cyber Range Institute, Applied Machine Learning and Intelligence Center, and the Smart Synergies Lab.

About the Ohio Cyber Range Institute

The Ohio Cyber Range Institute (OCRI), housed at the University of Cincinnati, is a partnership among state agencies and academic institutions led by UC, the Ohio Adjutant General's Department and Ohio Department of Higher Education. OCRI's mission is to advance cybersecurity education, workforce, and economic development. OCRI administers the Ohio Cyber Range as a state-wide tool that supports programming for K-20 courses and events; full-spectrum training opportunities, including incident response teams; industry workforce and economic development; cyber security research; as well as government agency support among other programs.

About The Job

The School of Information Technology seeks to hire a Program Manager, whose principal workload assignment will be to support the Ohio Cyber Range Institute.

The position is housed in the School of Information Technology (SoIT) and integrates with its mission and strategic plan. The position works within the OCRI governing structure and reports to the OCRI Executive Staff Director and the SoIT Director.

Job Overview

Under general supervision from the OCRI Executive Staff Director, the Program Manager will plan and manage OCRI programs and events. The essential functions will include managing programs, events, initiatives in accordance with the OCRI annual plan and in alignment with its vision and mission. This position requires collaborative effort with various stakeholders including, but not limited to, OCRI staff, OCRI regional programming centers, state agencies, and the general public. In addition, the program manager will develop operation standards and procedures in partnership with the OCRI Executive Staff Director, and in alignment with OCRI and UC jurisdiction and policies. This position will serve on the OCRI leadership team.

Essential Functions

  • Manage, design, develop, modify and present programs. Perform program needs assessment and make recommendations.
  • Implement policies and procedures.
  • Maintain budget, prepare contracts, approve and monitor expenditures, prepare budget requests and financial reports.
  • Act as liaison to internal departments, external entities and community organizations.
  • May prepare and edit reports and/or newsletters and develop publication materials.
  • May provide direct and/or indirect supervision to exempt and non-exempt staff (i.e., hiring/firing, performance evaluations, disciplinary action, approve time off, etc.).
  • Perform related duties based on departmental need. This job description can be changed at any time.


Required Education

  • Bachelor's Degree.
  • Seven (7) years of relevant work experience and/or other specialized training can be used in lieu of education requirement.

Required Experience

  • Three (3) years of relevant experience

  • Degree at the bachelor or master's levels preferred
  • Experience working within academic setting
  • Experience in project management is preferred
  • Project management certifications are preferred
