Responsibilities

We are looking for a Senior Underwriting Assistant to join our Core Renewal Team! As a Senior Underwriting Assistant, you will be the first point of contact for our brokers and agents. You will be responsible for starting the underwriting process for the MidAmerica region for existing business. This role will have exposure to all facets of underwriting such as monitoring underwriting tasks in our system, completing endorsements within assigned authority, assigning work out to appropriate contact in departments, and handling smaller renewals based on assigned letter of authority for multiple lines of business. We will provide you with the tools and resources to be successful as you'll interact with various stakeholders, participate in professional development, and enjoy career growth in your role.

This position is a hybrid work schedule 3 days in office 2 days remote in our Chicago, IL or Dallas, TX office.



Qualifications

Major Duties & Responsibilities:

    Underwrite small renewals within an assigned Letter of Authority.
  • Works closely with underwriters in handling policy requests and renewals.
  • Follow underwriting guidelines, state regulation, and general procedures while handling assigned renewal policies.
  • Maintains ownership of tasks assigned and provide acceptable service standards when processing and assigning tasks.
  • Provide agency support to assigned agents by answering general questions, providing endorsement status, cancellation status, billing inquires, etc. or directs to correct contact.

Qualifications:

  • Have the knowledge and skills needed to underwrite Workers' Compensation, Property, General liability, Auto, and Umbrella lines of business.
  • Proven team player and energetic personality.
  • Effective interpersonal, written, and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities and meet productivity deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
  • Strong organizational skills, detail oriented with a desire to learn.
  • Ability to provide information in a clear, concise manner with an appropriate level of detail, empathy, and professionalism.
  • Ability to build and maintain effective relationships.
  • Effective analytical skills to gather information, analyze facts, and draw conclusions.
