Shipping Clerk
Geismar, LA
PSC Group is looking for an individual to work as Shipping Clerk in an industrial chemical plant environment. The primary responsibility of a Shipping Clerk is to calculate innage / outage reports for containers at the facility and for completing necessary paperwork involving the container shipments. Experience is not always required, and paid on-the-job training is available. This career opportunity to join the PSC family includes a full-time position with a comprehensive benefits package.
Work Schedule: 2-2-3 rotating schedule (Days/Weekends)
Pay Range: starting at $22.00 an hour
Job Duties & Responsibilities:
- Calculate innage / outage of portable tanks to meet the customers ordered quantity while maintaining the DOT legal requirements for maximum road weight and tank capacity for regulated product
- Calculate inhibitor sheets for containers and portable tank shipments when required
- Issue necessary placards and tags for containers and portable tan shipments
- Complete necessary information on the containers / portable tank loading sheets
- Calculate percentages of products needed for plant mixture shipments
- Act as a liaison with all plant labs for release of shipment
- Confirm that all customer requirements regarding shipping papers have been met
- Sign bills of lading and carrier detention forms as necessary
- Sign out containers and portable tank drivers
- Maintain the completed shipment files for containers and portable tank shipments
- Interface with personnel in the following areas: Containers / Portable Tank Carriers, Distribution Unit Supervisors, Distribution Overland Techs and Containers Coordinator
- Create Excel spreadsheets and / or calculate for given containers / tank cars
- Enter daily shipments into the Bourque computer system to provide billing information for containers / tank cars
- Completes any other duties that may be assigned to complete the job.
Job Qualifications:
- Well Versed in Microsoft Word, Excel and PowerPoint
- Able to multitask and adhere to all procedures
- Must possess a valid driver's license
- 18 years or older and legally able to work in the U.S.
- Stable work history with good references from past employers
- Pass a drug screen, physical, and background check
- PSC is a veteran-friendly company. Previous military experience and proven ability to follow procedures is a plus.
