Job Summary |
The Alabama Cooperative Extension System is looking for a part-time Administrative Support Specialist to work on our Rural Health Initiative. This position is located in Livingston, AL at a rate of $22/hour.
This is a part-time limited term position. Continuation of employment is contingent upon funding ability.
The Administrative Support Specialist will coordinate healthcare events, volunteer groups, and ambassador programming and activities. The specialist will be responsible for purchasing and managing financial documentation. This individual will be the first line of contact with the public regarding healthcare access.

Essential Functions |
- Acts as an administrator in planning and coordinating logistics in Hale County.
- Advises others on processes, procedures, and services; and resolves policy related or procedural problems.
- Reviews and verifies documentation for completeness and compliance with policies and procedures.
- Manages marketing for Rural Health Initiatives and outreach opportunities.
- Assists in the development and maintenance of information required for reporting purposes.
- Manages and assists with outreach health and wellness programming; evaluates program success.
- Collects information for clientele to define needs or problem areas.
- Assists in the development of marketing plans and publicity materials for distribution to targeted audience.
- Provides professionalism through communications and interactions facilitated between administrators, faculty, staff, patients, and students concerning program/services.
- Demonstrates sensitivity to confidential matters.
- Performs a variety of clerical duties, which may include (but not limited to): typing & correspondence, filing/folders, recordkeeping/compilation/data entry, preparation/processing forms, calendars and scheduling, mail distribution and outgoing mailings, travel/expense vouchers, telephones and greeting, supplies/inventory, limited supervision of clerical or student work, other support duties of similar difficulty.
- Availability to work 25 hours per week - holidays and weekends may be required.

Minimum Qualifications
Minimum Qualifications |
Level I: High school diploma or equivalent plus 4 years of experience in administrative support services.
Level II: High school diploma or equivalent plus 6 years of experience in administrative support services.
Substitutions allowed for Experience:
Degrees accepted in lieu of experience, at a rate of one year relevant education per year of required experience. |
Minimum Skills, License, and Certifications
Minimum Skills and Abilities |
- Experience in customer service, administrative support, and healthcare.
- Knowledge of medical terminology.
- Crisis response and management skills.
