Leads activities of food service associates in their assigned kitchen. Shift is primarily Monday - Friday from 6:00 a.m. - 2:30 p.m.

This position would focus mainly on assisting with on-campus catering needs. When no catering assistance is required, they would support the education center food service associates.

MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES & DUTIES: Oversees food preparation and staff; participates in food preparation.
  • Leads unit staff and assists them to ensure safety and sanitation standards are met in preparation and service areas; assists in training new employees.
  • Ensures that workplace is in accordance with safety guidelines following the Hazard Analysis and Critical Control Points (HACCP) food safety policies, records temperatures of menu items.
  • Prepares and serves food and ensures proper set up, storage, and service of daily menu items and/or catering orders.
  • Completes the daily food production sheets and prepares reports; records the amount of food served, the student count, and menu items not served.
  • Reviews weekly menu and/or catering orders to ensure that necessary supplies are in stock and assists in ordering food and supply items to maintain an appropriate level of inventory for the operation of the work area.
  • Maintains and records monthly inventory.
  • Sanitizes and cleans kitchen and service area and equipment.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES:
  • Knowledge of federal sanitation regulations concerning facilities, equipment, and utensils.
  • Creative skills to enhance worn out meal production.
  • Ability to calculate percentages and fractions for recipes.
  • Knowledge of operation and maintenance of dish machine, ovens, steamers, slicers, freezers, and refrigeration.
  • High level of professionalism and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to communicate in an articulate, professional manner.
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:
  • Minimum of 1 year of experience including food services required.
  • Available to work outside of traditional business hours including evenings, weekends, and holidays if needed required.
  • Ability to provide own transportation (mileage reimbursed) to complete requirements of the job required.
  • Minimum of 18 years of age required.
  • CPR (BLS) certification required.
  • ServSafe Food Handlers certification within 120 days of transfer or hire required.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:
  • High school diploma or equivalent is preferred.
