The Civil and Construction Engineering program coordinator will support our program in two main areas: marketing and advising, along with other duties as assigned. Civil Engineering and Construction Engineering and Management are housed in the College of Engineering, Design and Computing (CEDC).

The program coordinator will work to increase the civil and construction program visibility and build brand awareness, in cooperation with University Communications and CEDC recruitment staff. Activities may include developing marketing material, coordinating promotional campaigns, managing social media and implementing promotional strategies for online and face-to-face events.

In addition, the program coordinator will assist the civil and construction program managers in providing essential services for students including academic advising, career development, student advocacy, and degree audit evaluation.

What you will do:

The duties and responsibilities of the position include, but are not limited to:

Marketing and Events [50%]




  • Develop and disseminate recruitment print publications, digital advertising emails, letters, and website content.



  • Attend recruiting events at high schools, community colleges, and with industry partners.



  • Provide general support for department marketing and media projects.



  • Post social media content regarding news, activities, and events related to our programs.



  • Initiate and support events and learning opportunities that assist students in reaching their academic and career goals.



  • Partner with faculty and staff to develop student success and academic advising resources



  • Initiate and participate in internal and external student retention and community-building activities.



  • Support student competitions with associated travel.



  • Attend team meetings and regularly report on marketing, recruitment and enrollment.




Student Advising [40%]




  • Recruit prospective students by providing detailed, first-hand knowledge of the program and process.



  • Provide student support and advising services to enrolled students in coordination with the department program managers.



  • Assist students with applications and registration.


  • Participate in and contribute to holistic student advising (including internships, career, international program support, etc.)


Other Duties [10%]




  • Attend various student facing events.



  • Participate in Professional Development opportunities to ensure continued growth.



  • Miscellaneous the duties as assigned in a team-oriented setting.



  • Occasional travel to student competitions.




Qualifications you already possess (Minimum Qualifications)




  • Bachelor's degree from an accredited university in education, communications, psychology, journalism, advertising, public relations, business, marketing, or related field.



  • Minimum 1 year experience with higher education, public relations, copywriting, social media, and web/digital media.




Substitution: An equivalent combination of education and experience from which comparable knowledge is acquired may be considered as a substitution for the bachelor's degree on a year for year basis.

Preferred Qualifications to possess (Preferred Qualifications)




  • Master's degree in education, communications, journalism, marketing, or related field.



  • Two years of advertising/marketing experience.



  • Experience providing photography.



  • Previous student advising experience.



  • Knowledge of student recruitment in higher education.



  • Knowledge of customer relationship management.

  • Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with employees at all levels throughout the institution.



  • Demonstrate a commitment to providing outstanding customer service skills.

  • Physical Requirements



  • While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently required to sit. The employee is occasionally required to move. Tasks may involve using a computer screen continuously for long periods of time and hearing within normal range. The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 30 pounds.




Conditions of Employment




  • Occasional work during the evening and/or weekends may be required.


  • This position follows a hybrid work structure where employees can work remotely or from the office, as needed, based on demands of specific tasks or personal work preferences. Working from the office is encouraged when working on tasks that require a high degree of collaboration.

Compensation and Benefits

The salary range (or hiring range) for this position has been established at $52,164 - $57,655

The salary of the finalist(s) selected for this role will be set based on a variety of factors, including but not limited to, internal equity, experience, education, specialty and training.

The above salary range (or hiring range) represents the University's good faith and reasonable estimate of the range of possible compensation at the time of posting.

This position is not eligible for overtime compensation.
