Position Summary
Reporting directly to the Maintenance Supervisor, the Electrical & Instrumentation (E&I) Technician is responsible for coordinating the testing, maintenance, calibration, and repair of sensing equipment. This includes temperature sensors, level sensors, sensor transmitters as well as their connections to various industrial computers (PLCs). Other job duties to include troubleshooting of process equipment which utilizes automation for control, wiring of electrical circuits for control circuits and their power supply.
Position Requirements
Education, Credentials, Licenses:
- Associates degree or technical training/certifications strongly preferred.
Kind & Length of Experience:
- Minimum 2 years of experience (4-6 years preferred) in a fast-paced manufacturing environment with strong mechanical and electrical skills
- Ability to troubleshoot, modify, and replace Allen Bradley Products: SLC 500 and 5000 PLCs, Guard Master, Power Flex, Flex I/O, ControlLogix controllers and system components required
- Minimum 2 years of experience maintaining and troubleshooting automated industrial production systems.
- Rockwell Automation specific PLC, and VFD training certifications preferred.
- Hands on Experience with Process Equipment preferred.
- Hands on Experience with Scales and loadcells preferred.
Performance Measures and Standards
- Train and develop direct reports to their fullest potential to use tools ranging from common hand and power tools, such as hammers, hoists, saws, drills, and wrenches, to precision measuring instruments and electrical and electronic testing devices.
- Perform routine preventive maintenance to ensure that manufacturing and facility equipment continue to operate safely and efficiently.
- Install, inspect, maintain and troubleshoot process instrumentation.
- Ability to read and interpret process flow diagrams and P&ID's.
- Install, inspect, maintain and troubleshoot process control systems.
- Ability to read, interpret, modify, and create electrical single line diagrams, I/O diagrams and electrical motor control schematics.
- Ability to identify process problems and correct the root cause.
- Capable of working with minimal supervision and good time management skills.
- Functional familiarity with OSHA Standards and NFPA 70E.
- Use MMS to document and record maintenance activities.
- Use MMS to document and record spare parts storage/usage.
- Participate in the process to meet productivity standards, reduce operation costs and eliminate waste.
- Interact with vendors and contractors.
- Support operations and provide good communication and organization pertaining to the progress and status of a repair.
- Prioritize safety work orders commensurate with risk.
- Complete work orders on time with consideration to establish priorities.
- Participate in management of change (MOC).
- Maintaining a safe and secure workplace and meet environmental site requirements.
- Performs other related duties as required and assigned.
HACCP Membership Responsibilities
- Must be selected by management
- Complete a HACCP training course
- Understand and apply the 7 Principles of HAACP
- Maintain a HACCP manual
- Develop, implement, and maintain the HACCP program within PCNA for food, cosmetic, and pharmaceutical applications
- React, investigate, and implement corrective actions to any issue that is brought to attention that would be impact the quality and safety of the products listed under the HAACP program
- Attend month HACCP meetings
- Review Management of Change documents as it relates to the area of expertise within the HAACP team
- Participate as an internal auditor for prerequisite programs and HACCP processes
- In the absence of this person, the supervisor is responsible for ensuring functions are completed as necessary to maintain the safety and quality of product.
