HJF is seeking a Senior Financial Analyst who conducts comprehensive financial analysis, providing reports and tracking program planning and execution in support to the HJF component of the U.S. Military HIV Research Program (MHRP) as well as other awards supporting the mission of the Walter Reed Army Institute of Research (WRAIR). Responsible for financial analysis, reporting on individual research projects, and projection of future award performance.

This position will be in support of the U.S. Military HIV Research Program (MHRP) located in Bethesda, MD.

The Henry M. Jackson Foundation for the Advancement of Military Medicine (HJF) is a nonprofit organization dedicated to advancing military medicine. We serve military, medical, academic and government clients by administering, managing and supporting preeminent scientific programs that benefit members of the armed forces and civilians alike. Since its founding in 1983, HJF has served as a vital link between the military medical community and its federal and private partners. HJF's support and administrative capabilities allow military medical researchers and clinicians to maintain their scientific focus and accomplish their research goals.


Responsibilities

  • Participates in program kick-off, standing meetings and closeout meetings identifying and addressing program financial needs.
  • Financial analysis includes burn rate analysis and reporting during the life-cycle of the award and personnel projections and effort of core personnel.
  • Regular review and monitoring of study budgets.
  • Forecasting and projecting throughout the duration of the study.
  • Distributes monthly financial reports.
  • Advises stakeholders and international sites of any deficits or other financial issues of concern. Provides recommendations for follow-up actions.
  • Creates a proactive approach to financial problem solving to mitigate errors.
  • Trains staff on financial issues central to HJF and develop financial capacity of field staff.
  • May perform other duties and responsibilities as assigned or directed by the supervisor. This may include attendance of and participation in required training for role.

Qualifications

Education and Experience

  • Bachelor's Degree in a business related discipline required.
  • 6-8 years of relevant work-related experience.

Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

  • Strong knowledge and experience with Excel.
  • Experience with research related budgets.
  • Ability to perform financial projections and analyses.
  • Ability to manage time and multiple tasks effectively.
  • Ability to assimilate detailed information into the bigger picture.
  • Sound business judgment to take appropriate actions.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills with strong focus on customer service.

Work Environment

  • This position will take place primarily in an office setting.

Compensation

  • The annual salary range for this position is $73,800 - $95,000. Actual salary will be determined based on experience, education, etc.
