Overview

AmTrust is seeking a Managing Attorney for its General Liability Staff Counsel Offices in New York and will report and work closely with the Director of the office. This Office represents policyholders and AmTrust affiliated insurance carriers administered by AmTrust North America. The Litigation Manager will play a pivotal role in overseeing and managing all aspects of our litigation processes. This role requires strategic oversight, analytical insight, and effective team management to ensure the successful resolution of legal disputes and compliance with AmTrust standards.



Responsibilities

Strategic Case Oversight

    Develop and implement litigation strategies to achieve favorable outcomes for the company.
  • Oversee the preparation and management of legal cases from inception through resolution.
  • Coordinate with internal and external legal teams to ensure cohesive and effective case handling.

Analytical Insight

  • Utilize data and analytics to accurately identify trends that affect individual attorney and overall office performance. Develop and implement initiatives geared towards achieving savings in legal and indemnity spends, drive high quality case outcomes, and provide excellent customer service year-over-year. Collaborate with the Litigation Management Unit in developing best practices and strategies that can drive results consistent with the standards and vision of the Company.
  • Take a practical approach to establishing and improving work and litigation initiatives; keeps involved in the day-to-day operations of the law offices unit as required to drive strategy.

Compliance Reporting Overview

  • Review and audit individual attorney and overall office compliance with timely and appropriate reporting per the Litigation Management Guidelines.
  • Maintain up-to-date knowledge of legal and regulatory developments impacting the company's operations.

Collaboration and Customer Service with Claims

  • Work closely with the claims department to address and manage litigation-related claims.
  • Provide exceptional customer service to internal and external stakeholders involved in litigation matters.
  • Facilitate open communication and collaboration between legal and claims teams to optimize case outcomes.

Management of a Team of Attorneys

  • Lead, mentor, and develop a team of attorneys along with coordinating with litigation support staff.
  • Assign and manage workloads to ensure efficient and effective case management.
  • Conduct performance evaluations and provide feedback to foster professional growth and development.
  • Fosters collaboration, partnership and communication to achieve department, client and company goals.


Qualifications

Required Qualifications:

  • Juris Doctor from Accredited Law School
  • State Bar licensed attorney
  • 7+ years in practice of law, experience in roles in group practice litigation litigating Insurance related cases or with Insurance Company in Litigation leadership position
  • Experienced leader of attorneys
  • Demonstrates advanced understanding of litigation strategy and execution for multiple lines of insurance
  • Embraces changes; invites feedback related to performance and deals constructively with criticism.
  • Proven track record of earning and keeping the trust of clients and colleagues
  • Persuades and influences within the company by presenting a strong case; explains things clearly, challenges ideas effectively and argues in favor of own point of view.
  • Entrepreneurial spirit and focus on customers as shown though courage to pursue new and unprecedented opportunities.
  • Ability to synthesize and draw conclusions from large amounts of data; translating the data into actions and results.
  • Emotionally intelligent and self aware

Preferred:

  • Multi-state Bar admittance
  • Experience with Legal Case Management system

The salary range for this role is $165K - $195K per year. Base pay offered may vary depending on, but not limited to education, experience, skills, geographic location, travel requirements, sales or revenue-based metrics. This range may be modified in the future.
