Essential Job Functions |
An employee in this position shall have the responsibility for the maintenance and repair of building electrical systems.
Tasks may include maintenance, repair, placement, fabrication, installation, alteration, construction and design of facility components requiring the application of skills in planning, problem-solving, attention to detail, teamwork, communication and adherence to safety. |

- Perform electrical work for all University renovations.
- Read electrical plans and blueprints.
- Operate ASU vehicles / equipment, as needed, with valid driver's license.

Preferred Qualifications |
Prefer four (4) years' experience in commercial/industrial work in the electrical trade.
Prefer knowledge of
OSHA regulations, local and state electrical codes.
Prefer State of North Carolina licensed electrician. |

Work Schedule/Hours |
8-hour workday schedule with primary hours varying within the following time frame: 6:00 am - 4:00 pm, Monday through Friday.
Weekend work and hours other than normal schedule may be required to accomplish assigned duties. Position is subject to call in, call back or stay over on off schedule hours and weekends should emergencies occur.
This position is subject to Primary and Secondary call back schedules.
This position is also expected to work, as needed, in the event of staffing shortages, and/or other events on campus.
This position is considered
MANDATORY and is expected to work during University closures, emergencies and adverse weather conditions. |

Physical Demands of Position |
Employee will be subject to several extremes of heat, cold, dust and dirt on a daily basis. Heavy lifting in excess of 50-100 pounds, with or without reasonable accommodation, is also required on a limited basis. |

Required Functional Competencies to Successfully Perform Job Duties. |
Knowledge-Technical: Routinely and consistently performs widely varying and broad, functionally diverse facility maintenance assignments requiring in-depth analysis and problem solving regarding the most complex, non-routine building systems, using advanced skills related to assigned trade area. Serves as a technical expert within the work unit. Guides, directs and coaches others regarding application and interpretation of technical issues. Applies and interprets technical knowledge to resolve unique or highly complex situations. Analyzes and researches appropriate solutions. Has a thorough and extensive understanding of programs, concepts and practices in the most complex mechanical systems trades area as well as a general understanding of one or more different trades areas.
Problem Solving: Anticipates and proactively pursues facilities-related maintenance issues and/or problems. Recognizes inherent problems with procedures and practices and makes suggestions for improvement. May include management, peers, and subordinates in the decision-making process to gain the support and acceptance of all parties.
Safety & Health Compliance: Regularly assesses safety conditions; identifies, communicates, and implements accident prevention and corrective measures in work related activities. Enforces appropriate post-emergency procedures. Anticipates safety issues and takes proactive steps to maximize safe operations and measure the effectiveness of action. |
