HJF is seeking a Data Manager III to manage and coordinate all aspects of the data management process in support of research activities within the program. Responsibilities include study planning, development of data collection procedures, and maintenance of the data management plan, data entry guidelines and coding manuals, generation and distribution of reports and data forms, data validation and data clarification resolution, and site training as needed for specific studies.

This position will be in support of the Brain Injury Rehabilitation Center at Brooke Army Medical Center, located on JBSA-Fort Sam Houston in San Antonio, TX. The Data Manager will provide support for a study evaluating a brief, intensive, individualized treatment that trains automatic use of cognitive strategies tailored to patients' everyday cognitive challenges, to maximize maintenance of gains and provide tools for service members or veterans to manage future challenges. The treatment will be evaluated for delivery in-person and via telehealth, to determine its effectiveness in decreasing everyday cognitive complaints among patients with a history of mTBI and persistent cognitive symptoms.

Responsibilities

  • Understands, develops, and executes all aspects of study data management.
  • Responsible for organizing and managing complex data for the study.
  • Applies good data management practices as defined by the Society for Clinical Data Management.
  • Coordinates data collected from enrollment sites.
  • Responsible for coordinating regulatory compliance and duties pertaining to sharing data with FITBIR, to include the formatting of data to be consistent with FITBIR.
  • May contribute to publications such as manuscripts, abstracts, posters, and presentations.
  • May perform other duties and responsibilities as assigned or directed by the supervisor. This may include attendance of and participation in required training for role.

Qualifications

Education and Experience

  • Bachelor's Degree in biomedical sciences or social sciences required. Master's Degree preferred.
  • Minimum of 6-8 years experience required.

Required Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

  • Proficiency in the understanding, development, and execution in all aspects of Data Management (e.g., case report form design, data entry instructions, data management and quality assurance plans, resource planning, data status tracking, etc.).
  • Expert knowledge of good data management practices as defined by the Society for Clinical Data Management.
  • Basic knowledge of medical terminology.
  • Experience managing all data-related aspects of studies with FDA-regulated substances, particularly for INDs.
  • Advanced knowledge of at least one clinical data management system (e.g., REDCap, OpenClinica, Medidata Rave, Oracle InForm, Oracle Clinical).
  • High attention to detail.
  • Ability to obtain and maintain a T1/Public Trust background check.

Physical Capabilities

  • Ability to stand or sit at a computer for prolonged periods.

Work Environment

  • This position will take place primarily in an office setting.

Compensation

  • The annual salary range for this position is $73,800-$103,000. Actual salary will be determined based on experience, education, etc.
