Job Summary This positions begins in January, 2025. This is a short-term position with a projected end date of 05/09/2025. Based on funding, position may be extended. Location: Williams and Pecos Campus Provides instruction in BIO 205, Microbiology, in alignment with CGCC's college goals and learner-centered instructional philosophy to a diverse student population. Uses multiple methods and modalities of instruction, assessment and appropriate technologies to engage students and promote student success. Demonstrates a commitment to rigorous curriculum, innovative strategies for teaching and learning, and collaboration. Essential Functions 80% Instructs, evaluates, and monitors learning of a diverse population of students in classroom, lab, online, or field settings using a variety of learning strategies such as cooperative learning, service learning, instructional technology, or other as appropriate. 5% Reviews, revises, and develops curriculum. 5% Is available on campus to support and mentor adjunct faculty. 5% Maintains office hours to assist and advise students. 5% Actively participates in college meetings or workgroups that contributes to the support of student learning. Minimum Qualifications A. Master's degree or higher in a biology discipline. Biology (biological sciences, life sciences, BIO) is a basic research lab science discipline such as cell biology, molecular biology, physiology, anatomy, microbiology, marine biology, zoology, botany, ecology, developmental, evolutionary, neurobiology, and other disciplines or subfields approved by the Biology Instructional Council. B. Master's degree or higher in an applied biology discipline. Applied biology includes public health (epidemiology, nutrition, environmental health, biostatistics), bioengineering, biotechnology, environmental science, conservation biology, wildlife management, exercise physiology, pathology, nutrition science, and other applied biology disciplines or subfields approved by the Biology Instructional Council. C. Master's degree or higher in a health care-related graduate or professional degree such as MD, DO, DDS/DMD, DPM, DVM, PA, DPT, DC, ND, MBChB or MBBS, and other health care-related disciplines approved by the Biology Instructional Council. Requires transcript evaluation by the hiring committee. D. Master's degree or higher in biology education, science education or secondary education with 18 semester graduate credits in biology and/or applied biology courses(see criteria A and B). Required 18 credits of graduate coursework may also include up to 6 semester hours of science teaching methods courses. Requires transcript evaluation by the hiring committee. E. Master's degree or higher in any field with 18 graduate credit hours in the teaching field of Biology Desired Qualifications
