Appointment Type: Temporary (Temp)


Location: Oak Ridge, TN or Remote (U.S. Based Locations)


*Salary Range: $20.45 - $27.35 per hour

PURPOSE: This position serves as the primary contact for participant travelers and is responsible for supporting and responding to travel inquiries for ORISE STEM Workforce Development (WD) programs. The Travel Specialist provides excellent service to internal and external customers while demonstrating company values and supporting the ORISE mission.



Responsibilities

    Guides ORISE travelers though the travel process in Concur to prepare domestic and foreign travel requests, expense reports, household moves, and inbound/outbound travel certificates for STEM Workforce Development participant travelers.
  • Ensures compliance with company policy and sponsor requirements for each trip.
  • Obtains sponsor approvals, interacts with travelers to plan trips, and prepares cost estimates and comparisons.
  • Coordinates with program staff to support group travel requests.
  • Coordinates with travel agency on ticketing and reservations.
  • Supports mid-trip changes for travelers.
  • Collects receipts and other requisite documentation.
  • Maintains electronic record files and databases.
  • Provides guidance, assistance, and training to participants regarding travel system and processes.
  • Assists in the development and delivery of job aids and participates in virtual training for travelers, sponsors, and program staff.
  • Attends and participates in STEM Workforce Development Program events.


Qualifications

High school diploma and 2-4 years of job related experience. Bachelor's degree preferred. An equivalent combination of education and experience requiring similar knowledge, skills, abilities, and performing duties as described may be substituted for the minimum requirements.

  • Excellent verbal and written communication, organizational, grammatical, and proofreading skills.
  • Ability to deal effectively and tactfully with a variety of people at various academic levels.
  • Ability to demonstrate problem solving skills.
  • Ability to be self-directed and capable of processing and prioritizing multiple tasks and handling a large and varied workload under pressure.
  • Ability to gain and retain knowledge of the travel management system, Concur, and ORAU travel policy as it pertains to participant programs.
  • Ability to gain and retain knowledge about STEM Workforce programs, as requirements vary considerably with regard to sponsor approvals, travel allowances, and details such as allowability of certain costs.
  • Strong interpersonal skills, communication skills, and ability to prioritize and organize work while ensuring quality of work and attention to detail.

*The candidate's starting salary will be determined upon hire and ORAU will use salary survey data, internal comparators, and the candidate's qualifications to determine salary.
