Position Purpose







This position is responsible to perform all registration and reception functions accurately. This position expedites and provides healthcare access through the accurate gathering of demographic, insurance, clinical and financial information from a variety of sources, (i.e., patients, patient families, physicians, physician office staff). By obtaining insurance authorization within the required time frame, this position ensures reimbursement for services rendered. This position is to make the admission process as comfortable and pleasant as possible.

This position will also play a crucial role in providing peer support services. The role also includes direct care and supervision for safety to the individuals facing a behavioral health and/or substance use addiction emergency. Utilizing lived experience and a recovery journey this employee offers empathy, encouragement, support, and practical assistance to empower individuals on a path to recovery. This position operates within collaborative team environment working closely with behavioral health professionals and community resources.









Nature and Scope







-This position has the authority to solve problems following established company guidelines. Decisions that must be referred to a supervisor are matters that involve problems which can develop negatively towards the company, time off requests, sick time, work schedules, interoffice problems, etc.

- Ability to be diplomatic and effectively communicate during stressful situations.

- Must be able to ensure all matters related to patient information are kept secured, meeting confidentiality compliance standards set by The Joint Commission and HIPAA.

- Above average computer application skills.

- Ability to follow verbal and written instructions.

- Be adaptable to a fast-paced environment with heavy physician/physician office staff interaction

- Working knowledge of health care insurance.

-The incumbent uses professionalism and diplomacy with interacting with patients and their families, physicians, physician office staff and other health care providers.

-The ability to prioritize/multitask in a fast-paced environment.

-The ideal candidate will have a strong commitment to promoting mental health and wellness, as well as excellent communication and interpersonal skills.

- Identifying all insurance payer sources, and pay order sequence, verify insurance eligibility, obtain insurance notification.

-Documenting all information collected timely and in accordance with department requirements. Explores the financial need of the patient and when appropriate refers the customer to the appropriate federal, state, or county assistance agencies.

-The incumbent is responsible for order entry and reception functions and assists in completion of departmental tasks.

- Explaining and obtaining signatures on admission, clinical and financial forms.

-The ability to accurately document subscriber information, determine payer order sequence and obtain notification as required by payer for services being rendered.

-Provide peer support services to individuals receiving mental health and/or substance use treatment, fostering a supportive and non-judgmental environment.

-Advocate for the rights and needs of individuals receiving mental health and/or substance use services, ensuring their voices are heard and respected.

- Empower individuals to actively participate in their treatment planning and decision-making processes, fostering a sense of autonomy and self-efficacy.

- Facilitate one-on-one peer support sessions, group discussions, and educational meetings to promote wellness, self-care, and recovery-oriented practices.

- Skills to anticipate customer needs, deal with the unexpected, establish priorities, investigate, and adjust performance style when necessary.

-Serve as a role model of recovery, demonstrating hope, resilience, and self-determination in overcoming obstacles.

- Collaborate with behavioral health professionals, case managers, and other service providers to develop comprehensive care plans that address the unique needs of each individual.

-Assist individuals in accessing community resources, social services, and other support networks to enhance their overall well-being and quality of life.

-Monitor and document client's behavior, progress, and response to treatment interventions.

- Assist in Crisis Intervention and de-escalation techniques as needed to ensure safety and wellbeing of clients and staff.

-Maintain a clean, safe, and therapeutic environment in accordance with regulatory standards and agency policies.

This patient does provide patient care.

Education:



Must have working-level knowledge of the English language, including reading, writing, and speaking English.

Stay informed about current trends, best practices, and evidence-based interventions in peer support services and mental health recovery.

Participate in ongoing training, workshops, and professional development opportunities to enhance knowledge and skills.

Share personal experience and insights with colleagues, peers, and community stakeholders to promote awareness and understanding of mental health recovery principles.

Provide mentorship and guidance to individuals interested in pursuing their own recovery journey or becoming peer support specialists.



Experience:



Preferred experience in a hospital, clinic or social service agency working with adults who have mental health and/or addiction issues



License(s):



None



Certification(s):



Ability to obtain and maintain a State of Nevada Peer Recovery and Support Specialists (PRSS) Certification by required at the time of hire.

Ability to obtain and maintain a Crisis Prevention Intervention (CPI) Certification required within 60 days by Evade.

Obtain and maintain BLS certification by the American Heart Association (AHA) standards required within 30 days of hire.



Computer / Typing:



Must possess, or be able to obtain within 90 days, the computers skills necessary to complete online learning requirements for job-specific competencies, access online forms and policies, complete online benefits enrollment, etc
