A Day in the Life: This position is responsible for electrical maintenance and repair of production equipment in a multi-purpose soybean processing facility. What You'll Be Doing:
- Repair and troubleshoot electrical and mechanical equipment
- Ability to use a variety of hand and power tools
- Thorough understanding and a leader in good electrical safety practices and regulations
- Operates electrical test equipment including VOM, megger and amprobe
- Performs preventive maintenance & troubleshoots motor control & lighting systems
- Understands three phase motors: starter sizes, changing overloads & heaters, wiring terminations, phase rotations, preventive maintenance, troubleshooting & repair
- PLC main components familiarization, system troubleshooting, installation, & repair
- Interprets instrumentation schematics/symbols installation, troubleshoot & repair
- Uses HMI screens to troubleshoot & understand process controls
- Understands AC motor / VFD theories: VFD sizing, control wiring, installation & configuration, parameter modifications, VFD troubleshooting & maintenance
- Install electrical conduit, cable trays, wiring, and electrical equipment in field as part of this expected skill of the craft function
- Ability to determine and install small three phase transformers (sizing & wiring)
- Understands fuse, wire and overload sizing Basic understanding of various electrical controls and ability to interpret electrical schematics & symbols
- Basic understanding of the National Electrical Code
- Understands basic computer operating skills and is teachable on how to utilize a computer laptop to interface with plant PLCs / VFDs / Servos of various types
- Understands building emergency lighting battery UPS systems and inverter controls
Minimum Qualifications:
- High School Diploma or GED required
- Minimum of 5 years of related experience preferred
- Associates degree and / or Technical Certification preferred
- Working knowledge of Electrical Hazardous Area Classifications (Class I & Class II) is a plus
Other Work Schedule and Qualification Requirements:
- Must be willing to participate in rotating team on-call schedule
- Must be willing to adjust to varying workloads and schedules
- Must have a basic understanding of industrial plant electric distribution systems
- Must have a basic understanding of industrial plant control systems
- Must have a basic understanding of the NFPA 70E and 70B Codes (safety and testing)
- Must be able to run rigid and flex conduit in the field as skill of the craft
- Must have a safe work history
- Must be willing to take direction and work as a team player with others is required including peer technicians, mechanics, engineering, and contractors
Physical Work and Environment Requirements: |
- Must be able to tolerate soybean and dust as possible allergens at a soybean processing plant
- Required to work indoors and outdoors in extreme temperatures depending on the season
- Ability to work tolerate working at various heights as required on man lifts
- Ability to learn forklift and JLG operation and safety procedures
- Normal color vision
