This combination of skills is combined to develop novel methods for molecular imaging, perfusion imaging, and cardiovascular functional imaging to better understand disease pathophysiology, to discover new therapeutic targets, and to develop novel diagnostic algorithms that can improve patient care. Specific areas of research include: a) application of molecular imaging techniques to characterize pathophysiology and assess therapy for atherosclerotic, vascular, and valvular disease; b) microvascular function and endothelial abnormalities in insulin resistance, heart failure and radiation exposure; and c) microvascular responses to acute and chronic myocardial and limb ischemia; d) development of ultrasound-based therapies based on site-targeted gene or drug delivery, and vascular bio-effects of cavitation. The incumbent will participate in a multiplicity of relevant lab projects and in writing study reports for the study sponsors, papers, and grant applications and are expected to develop research programs, as time permits. The incumbent will also be expected to attend and participate in laboratory meetings and CVRC-related seminars, as well as work with graduate students, technicians, fellows and collaborators in the laboratories involved in the project.
