Join the HJF Team! HJF is seeking a Senior Education Coordinator to support the Office of Medical Education at the Uniformed Services University of the Health Science (USUHS) in Bethesda. The individual filling this position will report to the Associate Dean for Curriculum and will perform a wide range of administrative and educational duties in support of the School of Medicine curriculum, which is responsible for coordinating the full-scale implementation of the "Molecules to Military Medicine" curriculum within the USUHS School of Medicine. Position involves coordinating and supporting the activities of over 520 medical students and over 250 faculty members in areas involving curricular management and academic planning. This position will be in support of the School of Medicine at USUHS in Bethesda, MD. The Henry M. Jackson Foundation for the Advancement of Military Medicine (HJF) is a nonprofit organization dedicated to advancing military medicine. We serve military, medical, academic and government clients by administering, managing and supporting preeminent scientific programs that benefit members of the armed forces and civilians alike. Since its founding in 1983, HJF has served as a vital link between the military medical community and its federal and private partners. HJF's support and administrative capabilities allow military medical researchers and clinicians to maintain their scientific focus and accomplish their research goals.
Responsibilities
- Supervises the two full-time administrative specialists and one part-time administrative assistant that make up the Office of Medical Education's Module Administrative Team (MAT). Develops and publishes standard operating procedures for the Module Administrative team, updating the same as necessary. Assists with and assigns duties and responsibilities to MAT members in accordance with the educational requirements associated with the seven pre-clerkship modules and/or the post-clerkship module, Bench to Bedside and Beyond (B3). Orients and trains new team members as needed.
- Serves as the senior administrator for the various educational programs and processes that comprise the School of Medicine's 4-year, Molecules to Military Medicine curriculum. Reviews, updates, and maintains all the pre-clerkship and B3 learning management sites, to include formatting and posting all supporting materials, coordinating a uniform format across the pre-clerkship, clerkship and post-clerkship curricula while working in close coordination with the corresponding Module/Clerkship Directors. Additional tasks include formatting and posting Canvas based quizzes and examinations, assisting with the process of mapping curricular topics--aligning them into a designated software program and/or spreadsheet, and ensuring that proctoring requirements for major examinations are identified and met.
- Communicates regularly with deans, department chairs, and program coordinators regarding curriculum related activities and planning which may include convening regular meetings or leading meetings. This includes serving on committees and providing various forms of customer service activities.
- Regularly reviews and updates existing processes and identifies opportunities for enhancement with the objective of continuously improving services to internal and external customers and stakeholders. Identifies, creates, and/or suggests new policies and procedures as needed. Uses independent judgment to address routine matters and actively seeks to cultivate solutions to complex problems.
- Develops and maintains electronic databases that record student exam scores, grade reports and/or progress/participation on various assignments. Prepares and publishes individual grade sheets reflecting student performance. Monitors and communicates students' submission/ completion of assignments as needed.
- Prepares ad hoc reports as needed by organizational managers and administrators.
- May perform other duties and responsibilities as assigned or directed by the supervisor. This may include attendance of and participation in required training for role.
Qualifications
Education and Experience
- Bachelor's Degree required.
- 6-8 years experience required.
Required Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
Requires exceptionally strong organizational skills to simultaneously plan, monitor, track, and execute a wide variety of ongoing and/or high visibility actions in different functional areas at the same time. Must have exemplary oral and written communication skills to prepare accurate, timely, and grammatically correct reports, briefings, and other communications. Must be able to foster clear and effective, bi-directional communication and collaboration with a wide range of personnel representing a broad range of educational and cultural diversity. Requires knowledge of and skill in the use of various automated systems, to include, but not limited to, the most current, and full array of programs associated with Microsoft Office, Adobe Acrobat, as well as with Google Suite. Strong working knowledge of educational learning management programs like Canvas, Sakai, Blackboard are strongly preferred, as is an ability to assist other faculty/staff members, and/or to 'trouble-shoot' Canvas related issues as needed. Exceptionally strong interpersonal skills, to include the ability to effectively and expertly, communicate, collaborate, and motivate others - Requires the ability to work collaboratively and/or independently. Prior supervisory experience strongly desired.
- Ability to obtain and maintain a T1/Public Trust background check.

- This position will take place primarily in an office setting.
Compensation
- The annual salary range for this position is $73,800.00-$109,200.00 Actual salary will be determined based on experience, education, etc.
