Responsibilities

Job Description: We are seeking a US Navy Surface Electronic Warfare (EW) Systems Engineer to join our team in providing support to the Naval Research Laboratory (NRL) Surface Electronic Warfare Systems Branch in Washington DC. Senior level Navy leadership experience strongly encouraged. Position will support EW Systems development through installation aboard surface US Navy platforms.

Position Responsibilities:

  • Liaison and collaborate with senior Fleet leadership (Fleet Commander, Type Commander, Operational Commander) and Ship's Force EW/IW personnel.
  • Provides knowledge and understanding of prototype systems requirements development process.
  • Provides technical advice and guidance on prototype EW system development, configuration, adaptation and installation.
  • Deliver engineering and technical support in system development in hardware component placement and maintenance accessibility.
  • Development of the System Electronic Technical Manual (ETM) and the support documentation (Supporting/System Information, Functional Descriptions, Ops/Maintenance, and Troubleshooting).
  • Support development of system fault isolation tables used to assist in fault localization during system failure. Assist in the removal and replacement procedures for system components.
  • Provides expertise in development of Operations Maintenance training curriculum/documentation.
  • Serve as the subject matter expert (SME) for On Site Representative (OSR) functions to provide oversight and monitoring of all shipboard alteration installations in stateside and foreign locations.
  • Provide coordination with US Navy Shipyards in the development of system Ship Installation Drawings (SIDs) and Liaison Action Requests (LARs). Participate in SID reviews to ensure system requirements are reflected and addressed in engineering drawings.

Qualifications

Basic Qualifications (Required Skills/Experience):

  • Must be able to obtain and maintain an active U.S. Secret Security Clearance or higher
  • Must have CompTIA Security+ or higher-level DoD 8570 certification
  • Have a BS degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or other related technical field with 10 to 12 years' experience, or Master's degree and 8-10 years' experience
  • Have a working knowledge of Microsoft Windows, Office, desktop applications (email, file transfer, browsers) and computer networking
  • Work well both individually and in a team environment
  • Have excellent written and verbal communication skills

Preferred Qualifications:

  • 20+ years Senior level Navy leadership experience encouraged.
  • Prior experience, knowledge and expertise in US Navy Surface Electronic Warfare (EW) Systems.
  • Experience and ability to provide system operations and maintenance classroom training
  • Navy Master Training Specialist/Afloat Training Specialist credentials
  • Navy Enlisted Classifications for EW Systems
  • Lean Six Sigma
  • Have experience with system integration, network troubleshooting and system troubleshooting

This is the projected compensation range for this position. There are differentiating factors that can impact a final salary/hourly rate, including, but not limited to, Contract Wage Determination, relevant work experience, skills and competencies that align to the specified role, geographic location (For Remote Opportunities), education and certifications as well as Federal Government Contract Labor categories.
