Position Overview
The Program Coordinator coordinates the health and wellness program for students on the KLETC campus. The Program Coordinator produces programmatic materials to support the health and wellness program, activities to foster the engagement of students, and delivers a range of promotional, educational and informational presentations and/or resource materials related to program activities and initiatives. Tracks program requirements and annual updates, facilitates meetings monthly, annually or quarterly. Serves as a training expert to staff and students. Coordinates the collection, compilation and analysis of program activity data.

The Hutchinson Campus consists of 173 acres with fifteen buildings including two multi-story residential student dormitories.

The Hutchinson Campus is home to the Kansas Law Enforcement Training Center (KLETC). A unit of The University of Kansas (KU), KLETC serves as the central agency for all law enforcement training in the State of Kansas. KLETC manages a $12 million annual budget, 65 authorized FTE staff (augmented by more than 400 contract/adjunct staff annually), and trains nearly 10,000 students annually in residential, online, and outreach programs. KLETC serves 437 recognized law enforcement and police agencies in Kansas, providing basic training and continuing education programs throughout each fiscal year.

Job Description
50% - Coordination of Health, Wellness & Fitness Activities/Programs
  • Design, Executive and evaluate health, wellness, & fitness programs to meet the needs of the students.
  • Provides resources and training in holistic wellness in the police field, including dietary, mental and fitness related programs.
  • Assists students in assessing their overall health, wellness & fitness; assists with determining long-term goals.
  • Teaches, coaches, and mentors' students in a variety of aerobic and anaerobic fitness, flexibility, stretching, and balance-related activities.
  • Teaches, coaches, and mentor's students in proper technique using exercise equipment at KLETC in an effort to reduce risk and injury.
  • Produces programmatical content related to overall health and wellness for students.
  • Presents to students on physical fitness and health related topics on an as needed basis.
  • Meets with students online or in persons to discuss/set short-term and long-term health, wellness and fitness goals.

20% - Program Success Monitoring/Equipment Maintenance
  • Develop collection methods to solicit and analyze student data and feedback to refine and improve programming. Conducts surveys, gathers feedback, and analyzes health, wellness, & fitness program participation and outcomes for purposes of evaluating program effectiveness.
  • Identify and measure key performance indicators for program events.
  • Assist with development of budget for programs or events as needed by Associate Director
  • Maintains inventory of subject matter expert published nutritional literature for distribution to students.
  • Maintains inventory of physical fitness equipment and manages repair/replacement of equipment, as needed.

20% - Professional Development Activities/
  • Engage in professional development activities supportive in the growth and expertise of the field.

10% Other duties as assigned. Responsible for providing programs located at other locations in addition to the Yoder campus.

Position Requirements

Required Qualifications
  1. Bachelor's degree plus 3 years related experience in a discipline related to public health, health education, counseling, social welfare, or kinesiology.
  2. Excellent communication skills as evidenced by work history and application materials submitted;
  3. Experience organizing, managing, and supervising multiple and varied tasks and projects as demonstrated by education, work history, and application material;
  4. Valid Kansas driver's license or ability to obtain one within 90 days.

Preferred Qualifications
  1. Master's degree in public health, wellness management, health administration or related field;
  2. Certifications in public health, exercise science, or wellness;
  3. A minimum of five years of experience as a practitioner in the public health, exercise science, or wellness fields
  4. Experience in health and fitness as it relates to law enforcement
