Position Summary

The University of New Mexico Health Sciences Center (UNM
HSC) seeks a highly experienced Dissemination and Implementation Science
(D&I) scientist at the associate or full professor level, to lead and
advance D&I science with a focus on UNM's Project Extension of Community
Health Outcomes (ECHO). Project ECHO is a nationally and globally recognized
leader for educating the health workforce, including community health workers,
nurses, physician assistants, and physicians, for a range of health conditions
and health equity approaches. Inspired by the way clinicians learn from medical
rounds during residencies, the ECHO Model has evolved into a learning
framework that applies across disciplines for sustainable and profound change.
The successful candidate will play a pivotal role in expanding the impact of
Project ECHO's mission to democratize medical knowledge and increase access to
best-practice care for underserved populations globally.

The Associate Director will be positioned in the newly
established Center for Advancing Dissemination and Implementation Science
(CADIS) that serves the College of Population Health, School of Medicine,
School of Nursing, and the College of Pharmacy. The CADIS works closely with
the Clinical and Translational Science Center, the NCI-designated Comprehensive
Cancer Center and other centers and programs (https://hsc.unm.edu/research/centers-programs)
across the HSC to advance pragmatic research and implementation science
initiatives and address the needs of rural and underserved urban communities.
Depending on the candidate's background and experience, the Associate Director
will be a faculty member at the rank of Associate Professor or full Professor
and will serve in a part-time capacity (0.5-0.8 FTE, negotiable) with the
remaining FTE in the Candidate's Department. Candidates hired into one of the
following colleges/schools could be considered for tenure track: College of
Population Health, College of Nursing, and the College of Pharmacy. Candidates
hired into the School of Medicine will be placed on a Research Track.

Key responsibilities:

* Provide visionary leadership to advance the science of dissemination and implementation within the context of Project ECHO's initiatives

* Develop and implement a strategic plan for D&I research with a focus on Project ECHO in alignment with the current educational and clinical systems research

* Design, oversee, and conduct high-impact D&I research projects, including the development of grant proposals and securing external funding.

* Ensure research projects are aligned with Project ECHO's mission and goals, leveraging data to improve healthcare delivery and outcomes

* Collaborate with academic institutions, healthcare providers, policymakers, and community organizations, to promote and enhance D&I research with a focus on Project ECHO

* Mentor, train and teach to faculty, staff, and students in the appointed Department and across the UNM HSC


Qualifications Minimum Qualifications:

* A doctoral degree (PhD, DrPH, ScD, MD, PharmD, or equivalent) in clinical medicine, public health, implementation science, health services research, or a related field.

* A minimum of 5 years of experience in D&I research, preferably within a healthcare or academic setting.

* Proven track record of securing external research funding and

* Publishing record in high-impact, peer-reviewed journals

* Strong leadership and team-building skills, with experience managing and mentoring research teams

* Exceptional project management skills, with the ability to manage multiple projects and deadlines effectively

* Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to convey complex scientific concepts to diverse audiences

Preferred Qualifications:

* Experience working with underserved populations and addressing health disparities

* Proven track record of securing external research funding in D&I research

* Publishing D&I research in in high-impact, peer-reviewed journals

* Familiarity with Project ECHO's model and mission

* Previous research experience using Project ECHO

* A demonstrated commitment to diversity, equity, inclusion, and student success, as well as working with broadly diverse communities.

Salary Information:
The salary is based on the terminal degree, title, and years
of experience. Salary is complemented by a comprehensive benefits package,
which includes medical, dental, retirement, tuition, and paid time off.
