Highway Electrical Technician I

Who You Are:

Versar Global Solutions is seeking a Highway Electrical Technician I to perform routine maintenance and repair and installation of highway lighting on nearby highways. This position involves working from elevated heights to perform these tasks on overhead highway fixtures and light poles as well as ramp signage and signals. A daily presence is required at the Ocoee, FL.

What You'll Do:

  • Measures, cuts, and bends wire and conduit
  • Drills holes for wiring and pulls or pushes wiring through opening
  • Traces out short circuits in wiring
  • Follows Company and client Lock-out/Tag-out procedures
  • Assists in lifting, positioning, and fastening objects such as wiring, conduit and motors
  • Performs minor repairs such as replacing fuses, light sockets, bulbs and switches
  • Maintains tools and equipment and keeps supplies and parts in order
  • Disassembles defective electrical equipment, replaces defective or worn parts and reassembles equipment
  • Works from elevated locations, possibly as high as 60', sometimes near water in a bucket truck
  • Performs hurricane season preparation and post-storm clean-up
  • Performs Maintenance of Traffic (MOT) as needed and during on-call needs
  • Temporary traffic control to support first responders and accident victims with lane closures/flagging
  • Conducts pre-trip and post-trip vehicle and work site inspections
  • Performs pre-storm preparation and post-storm evaluation during hurricane season
  • Logs maintenance work-order information and checklists manually and electronically
  • Gathers tools and supplies to be used at work site
  • Loads and unloads equipment, supplies, tools, and material
  • Uses all equipment safely
  • Performs other duties as required

What You'll Bring:

  • 18+ years of age
  • High School Diploma/GED
  • 1-2 years of Residential or Commercial Experience
  • Ability to work with 277/480 volts
  • Ability to pass a DOT physical and obtain a medical certification
  • Possess and maintain a valid Florida Driver's License
  • Ability to lift up to 50 lbs. and carry up to 25 lbs. regularly
  • Ability to walk, stand, or sit for extended periods of time
  • Willingness to work multiple shifts and varying hours, including nights, weekends, and overtime
  • Ability to work outdoors in a variety of weather conditions
  • Ability to work along local roadways, interstates, and/or highways with commuter traffic passing by at varying rates of speed
  • Ability to adhere to on-call schedule and emergency call backs as necessary
  • Obtain MOT certificate (coursework and certification paid for by The Company)
  • Must be proficient in English, both written and verbal, to ensure effective communication and collaboration.
  • Successful results of preemployment screenings, including federal background check, MVR, and drug screen.
  • Comply with company drug and alcohol policy.
  • Be authorized to work in the US or will be authorized by the successful candidate's start date.

Compensation

Expected Salary: $17-$19/hr

The Company reserves the right to ultimately pay more or less than the posted range and offer additional benefits and other compensation, depending on circumstances not related to an applicant's status protected by local, state, or federal law.

Location Requirements

The position will primarily work onsite in Ocoee, FL.
