The Role:

As a Product Engineer III, you will collaborate in a cross-functional team environment to design and develop wafer handling products that will be used in Semiconductor fabs around the world. In this role, you will help create a competitive advantage for the business through experienced product design and development. This role entails a mixture of product design and product support abilities.

The Advanced Material Handling Division focuses on developing wafer transport and processing products used by integrated device makers (IDMs), original equipment makers (OEMs), and wafer growers in the semiconductor industry. Our customers demand high-quality, consistent, reliable, clean products to produce high-tech devices.

Product Design/Development

  • Passion for making great products and solving complex technical problems.

  • Desire to collaborate with a team and actively participate in the iterative design process.

  • Desire to openly conceptualize, quickly iterate, and readily receive and implement feedback.

  • Motivated to work towards effective and innovative design solutions that meet project requirements.

  • Create IP filings and works with legal team for new idea disclosures.

  • Develop drawings and technical specifications for new products.

  • Construct, inspect, and clean samples used during internal and customer qualification.

  • Work closely with manufacturing and quality during new product introduction and pilot phases.

  • Has a strong desire to design plastic injection molded products.

Product Engineering Support

  • Support product management and global field teams by providing product information.

  • Work closely with manufacturing and quality to support customer and product related investigations.

  • Support product changes by participating in validation and qualification efforts for design/process changes.

  • Strong desire to learn about Entegris' existing product catalogue and become a subject matter expert.

Analysis & Testing

  • Utilize various methods to simulate and analyze designs using FEA, CFD, and moldflow software.

  • Design, conduct, and interpret engineering analysis to validate design decisions, manufacturability, and functional performance of new and derivative products.

  • Work with the internal test lab to develop product performance and qualification test plans and parameters.

  • Validate changes and improvements to product performance using statistical analysis.

  • Investigate, document, troubleshoot, and develop solutions based on customer input and returned samples.

Communication & Support

  • Enthusiastic to share knowledge and provide support to other engineering team members.

  • Desire to be a key contributor to medium - large projects to help identify and ensure fulfillment of all internal and external stakeholders' requirements.

  • Develop and update product development plans, schedules, and budgets.

  • Foster open dialogue with other functions, including Product Management, Quality, and Manufacturing.

  • Work with field engineering/sales teams to resolve customer concerns and develop innovative solutions.

  • Some evening or morning conference calls with Asia or Europe included (once or twice a week).

Preferred Experience and Skills:

  • BS or MS in Mechanical Engineering

  • 5+ years in a product design/development or R&D environment

  • Willingness to travel globally (10%)

  • Preferred experience:

  • Experience with the product design process.

  • Design and development of plastics/polymer-based products, particularly design for injection molding.

  • Exposure to injection mold tool construction and the plastic injection molding process.

  • Experience developing product testing plans and requirements.

  • Preferred skills:

  • 3D CAD design in SolidWorks and/or Creo.

  • "Hands-on" mechanical aptitude and problem-solving ability.

  • Use of analytical methods such as FEA, CFD, tolerance analysis, and statistics.

  • Salary in the $105.0000-$115,000/year range.
