**Job Summary:**
The Manufacturing Operator-2nd Shift is responsible for maintaining the operation of the Cooker and Extruder machine in accordance with all OSHA standards, safety standards, and quality standards set forth by Balchem Policies. This role plays a critical part in ensuring the continued production of high-quality products.
**Responsibilities:**
- Set up feed systems, screw configuration, extruder, and start-up/shut down the Extruder using Standard Operating Conditions.
- Accurately handle all paperwork and collect data, maintaining proper reporting in the ERP system for all returned ingredients.
- Operate the extruder, including blender to K-tron, panel view, zone temps, K-tron feeder, and airvey usage and flow.
- Monitor product quality and promptly notify the appropriate personnel of any issues that arise.
- Maintain accurate and up-to-date records, reporting any discrepancies or concerns.
- Ensure a sanitary work area, adhering to all OSHA standards and Balchem Standard Operating Procedures.
- Adhere to all safety measures, including OSHA regulations and Lock out/Tag out procedures.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
**Qualifications:**
- High School diploma or general education degree (GED) preferred.
- Minimum of six (6) months of related experience and/or training.
- Strong motivation, organization, time management, and communication skills (both orally and written).
- Excellent attention to detail and the ability to multi-task and prioritize.
- Demonstrated strong work ethics, including punctuality, dependability, trustworthiness, and quality orientation.
- Common sense and skills in completing responsibilities and operating equipment according to Balchem production and safety procedures.
- Ability to read and comprehend simple instructions.
- Effective communication and conflict resolution skills.
- Ability to give and welcome feedback and contribute to building a positive team spirit.
**Working Conditions:**
- Continuous standing, walking, manual dexterity, and good hearing and vision abilities required.
- Occasional climbing, balancing, stooping, kneeling, and crawling.
- Periodically lifting up to 25 pounds and occasionally lifting up to and above 50 and 100 pounds using proper techniques and equipment.
- Rare exposure to wet or humid conditions, moving mechanical parts, extreme heat or cold, high noise levels, and hazardous chemicals.
- Occasionally working in high or precarious places and outdoor weather conditions.
- Color vision is required.
**Compensation:**
- Non-Exempt position, earning $17.00 per hour plus shift differentials.
- Shift differential rate: 2nd Shift ($1 extra per hour), 3rd Shift ($1.50 extra per hour).
