Transportation Project Engineer I, Municipal

At RK&K, we are hiring a motivated Project Engineer in Raleigh, NC who wants to provide better mobility for our local communities! As a Project Engineer at RK&K, you will join our multimodal Transportation Design team and provide creative input and leadership for projects with a wide variety of state, county and municipal public works and transportation agencies. You will collaborate with coworkers, peers, and clients to develop projects that serve a diverse range of users and travel modes, enhance safety and make communities better places to live. Essential Function

• Provide a wide variety of engineering tasks for roadway widening, sidewalk, multi-use path and greenway projects
• Collaborate and lead a project team to develop complete, accurate and cost-effective design recommendations for projects
• Apply applicable federal, state and local guidelines and standards
• Lead design projects to ensure high quality deliverables are completed within budget and on schedule
• Coordinate with clients, contractors, consultants, government agencies, and project staff
• Work with other disciplines on creative solutions to design challenges

Required Skills and Experience

• 5-8 years of experience in civil and/or transportation engineering
• Working knowledge of civil engineering design principals
• BS in Civil Engineering from an ABET accredited engineering program
• Professional Engineering Registration (PE)

Preferred Skills and Experience

• Experience working with municipal and DOT clients
• In-depth understanding of transportation design guidelines and standards, contract documents, and other local design manuals and guidelines
• Proficiency with MS Word and Excel
• Capable of leading transportation design projects in a team-oriented environment
• Strong written and oral communication skills
