Description

Under the direction of the Service Manager, the Mobile Service Technician Maintains diesel equipment operation by completing inspections and preventive maintenance requirements; correcting vehicle deficiencies; making adjustments and alignments; keeping records.

Pay: $30.00-$40.00/hr (Depending on Experience)

Shift: Monday - Friday, 1:00 p.m. - 9:00 p.m.

Performance Objectives:



  • Perform all levels of maintenance services
  • Determines vehicle condition by conducting inspections and diagnostic tests; identifying worn and damaged parts.
  • Be able to test lines, components, and connections using electrical, mechanical and pneumatic test equipment
  • Keeps equipment available for use by completing preventive maintenance schedules; installing component and part upgrades; controlling corrosion; completing winterization procedures.
  • Corrects vehicle deficiencies by removing, repairing, adjusting, overhauling, assembling, disassembling, and replacing major assemblies, sub-assemblies, components, parts, or systems, such as, power and drive trains, electrical, air conditioning, fuel, emission, brake, steering, hydraulics; completes machine shop operations; making adjustments and alignments including bearing loads, gear tooth contact, valve mechanisms, governors, oil systems, control linkages, clutches, and traction units.
  • Complies with federal and state vehicle requirements by testing engine, safety, and combustion control standards.
  • Maintains vehicle records by annotating services and repairs.
  • Keeps shop equipment operating by following operating instructions; troubleshooting breakdowns; maintaining supplies; performing preventive maintenance; calling for repairs.
  • Contains costs by using warranty; evaluating service and parts options.
  • Identify warrantable repairs and document on repair order
  • Use hand tools such as screwdrivers, pliers, wrenches, pressure gauges, and precision instruments, as well as power tools such as pneumatic wrenches, lathes, welding equipment, and jacks and hoists.
  • Inspect and verify dimensions and clearances of parts to ensure conformance to factory specifications.
  • Maintain work area appearance and safety
  • Road test vehicles when necessary to diagnose malfunctions or to ensure that they are working properly.
  • Perform duties with little or no supervision and in a timely and efficient manner
  • Other projects and tasks as assigned


Experience Requirements:



  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • Trade school or college education in a diesel technology program preferred.
  • 2-5 years related work experience preferred.
  • Mechanical knowledge required.
  • Valid Driver's License required; CDL preferred (must be willing to obtain).
  • Dependable and reliable attendance required.
  • Proficiency in the use of all necessary tools of trade required
  • Basic computer skills including Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook required
  • Ability to work in a non-climate controlled environment is required
  • Willingness to travel as necessary, work the required schedule, and work at the specific location as required.
